A steric gate prevents mutagenic dATP incorporation opposite 8‐oxo‐deoxyguanosine in mitochondrial DNA polymerases

Reactive oxygen species induce mutagenic DNA lesions, such as 8‐oxo‐2′‐deoxyguanosine (8‐oxodG), which acts as a template for dCMP and dAMP incorporation through its anti and syn conformations. Specific residues must regulate the fidelity of templated 8‐oxodG.

ABSTRACT The water potential at which leaf cells lose turgor (ΨTLP) is a useful predictor of whole‐plant drought tolerance and biome wetness. However, many plants can achieve water potential values below ΨTLP and recover, raising questions about the physiological processes that occur below ΨTLP.

Aspergillus After Lung Transplantation: Prophylaxis, Risk Factors, and the Impact on Chronic Lung Allograft Dysfunction

Out of 274 lung transplant (LTx) patients, 89 (32%) developed invasive aspergillosis IA. Factors associated with IA were mycophenolate mofetil use, airway stenosis, Aspergillus cultured pre‐LTx, chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD), and acute rejection. The role of nebulized amphotericin B and statins for prevention of IA remains unclear. ABSTRACT
