Occurrence of Bunch Rot Disease Caused by Aspergillus tubingensis on Shine Muscat Grape

open access: yesResearch in Plant Disease, 2019
During the year 2018, the symptoms of bunch rot on Shine Muscat (Vitis vinifera L.) were observed in Kimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk province in Korea. The disease appears on the Shine Muscat as a black rot due to prolific fungal sporulation after it has invaded ...

Antifungal Resistance in Non‐fumigatus Aspergillus Species

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 68, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT This review provides an in‐depth exploration of antifungal resistance in non‐fumigatus Aspergillus species, mainly focusing on acquired resistance. The available data have been compiled and sometimes re‐analysed. It highlights the increasing prevalence of resistance in non‐fumigatus species belonging to Flavi, Terrei, Nigri, and Nidulantes ...

Malformin C preferentially kills glioblastoma stem‐like cells via concerted induction of proteotoxic stress and autophagic flux blockade

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 3, Page 785-807, March 2025.
In a fungal extract screen, malformin C was identified as a compound which selectively kills glioblastoma stem‐like cells while sparing normal cells. Malformin C induces proteotoxic stress and disrupts autophagy, exploiting a vulnerability in glioblastoma stem‐like cells.

Updated safety evaluation of the food enzyme endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase from the genetically modified Aspergillus niger strain XYL

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 23, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract The food enzyme endo‐1,4‐β‐xylanase (4‐β‐d‐xylan xylanohydrolase, EC 3.2.1.8) is produced with the genetically modified Aspergillus niger strain XYL by DSM Food specialties. An evaluation of this food enzyme was made previously, in which EFSA could not conclude on its safety due to data gaps in a genotoxicity test.
