Temperature dependence of ATP release from "caged" ATP.
Acta biochimica et biophysica; Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae, 1986The ATP release from "caged" ATP by laser flash was determined at different temperatures and pH values. We measured the time resolved absorbance changes of the coloured intermediate, which is involved in the photolytic process. The linearity of the Arrhenius curves suppose only one process and the calculated activation enthalpies (around 55 kJ/mole ...

Neural Release of ATP and Adenosinea
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1990Release of ATP can be evoked from noradrenergic nerve varicosities isolated from guinea pig ileal myenteric plexus by depolarization with K+ and veratridine and during exposure to acetylcholine or 5-HT. Clonidine, however, modulates the release of [3H]noradrenaline without affecting the release of ATP.

[Neurotransmitter ATP and cytokine release].
Nihon yakurigaku zasshi. Folia pharmacologica Japonica, 2000Microglia, the resident macrophages in the central nervous system (CNS), are rapidly activated upon trauma or ischemic injury, releasing cytokines and undertaking tissue repair. Recent studies have indicated that CNS immune cells express ionotropic P2X and metabotropic P2Y purinoceptors and undergo functional changes in response to extracellular ATP ...

ATP release and effects in pancreas
Drug Development Research, 2003AbstractATP and other nucleotides are released from various cells, but the pathway and physiological stimulus for ATP release are often unclear. The focus of our studies is the understanding of ATP release and signaling in rat exocrine pancreas. In acinar suspension mechanical stimulation, hypotonic shock and, most importantly, cholinergic stimulation ...

Regulation of cellular ATP release.
Transactions of the American Clinical and Climatological Association, 2008Epithelial cells exhibit regulated release of ATP. Once outside of the cell, ATP in nanomolar concentrations functions as an autocrine/paracrine signal modulating a broad range of cell and organ functions through activation of purinergic receptors in the plasma membrane. The mechanisms responsible for ATP release have not been defined.
