Leishmania Antigen Nonspecific Binding to Avidin in Biotin-Avidin Immunoassays [PDF]
One of the most prevalent uses of avidin-biotin technology in recent years has been their use in immunoassays. In many cases, the signal is enhanced 10-fold or more, owing to the four biotin-binding sites of avidin and the multiple biotinyl groups on the derivatized antibody ([4][1], [5][2 ...

TEAD1 Enhances Exosome Secretion and Promotes Exosome‐Mediated Tissue Regeneration
TEAD1 functions as a crucial molecular switch regulating exosome secretion in various cell types. TEAD1 enhances exosome secretion by upregulating key proteins associated with exosome secretion, including RAB11, CD9, and SNAP23. This study reveals a novel role for TEAD1 in regulating exosome secretion and tissue regeneration, particularly in diabetic ...

Engineered GM1 Intersects Between Mitochondrial and Synaptic Pathways to Ameliorate ALS Pathology
Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease driven by genetic and molecular disruptions affecting energy balance, protein homeostasis, and stress responses in nerve cells. Studies using human and rodent models identified convergent defects in mitochondria and synaptic function.

Modular Assembly of Dynamic Polymer Networks From Heteroaffinity Cross‐Links to Multivalent Proteins
This study develops a method to modularly assemble oligomeric binding proteins, like streptavidin, using heterobifunctional cross‐linkers that have both a strong‐ and a weak‐affinity binding moiety. These dynamic cross‐linkers enable the assembly of polymer networks with unique meta‐stable nonequilibrium topologies, and that exhibit chemically tunable ...

Three-dimensional structures of avidin and the avidin-biotin complex. [PDF]
The crystal structures of a deglycosylated form of the egg-white glycoprotein avidin and of its complex with biotin have been determined to 2.6 and 3.0 A, respectively. The structures reveal the amino acid residues critical for stabilization of the tetrameric assembly and for the exceptionally tight binding of biotin.

A Tac1‐Expressing Brainstem Pathway Underlies the Pathogenesis of Trigeminal Neuralgia
A critical TG‐Sp5CTac1‐PBNTac1 pathway drives trigeminal neuropathic pain (TNP). Tac1‐expressing parabrachial nucleus (PBNTac1) neurons exhibit heightened responses to innocuous stimuli in TNP, and chemogenetic inhibition of these neurons effectively prevents TNP development.

Chemical linkage to injected tissues is a distinctive property of oxidized avidin.
We recently reported that the oxidized avidin, named AvidinOX®, resides for weeks within injected tissues as a consequence of the formation of Schiff's bases between its aldehyde groups and tissue protein amino groups.

Human islet amyloid polypeptide (hIAPP) was used to mimic T2DM, and Aβ42‐hIAPP co‐oligomers were delivered into the human mature cerebral organoids (COs), which reproduce typical AD pathology and significant neuronal death more closely resembling that of AD patients.
