White Matter and Perivascular Imaging Changes in Alzheimer's Disease and Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy
ABSTRACT Objective Peak‐width of skeletonized mean diffusivity (PSMD) and diffusion tensor imaging–analysis along the perivascular space (DTI‐ALPS), reflecting white matter integrity and glymphatic function, are altered in Alzheimer's disease (AD).

CONDUCTION VELOCITY AND AXONAL DIAMETER OF ALIMENTARY C FIBRES [PDF]
Experiments were undertaken to investigate the numerical relationship between the axon diameter and conduction velocity (scaling factor) of non‐myelinated axons supplying the duodenum of the sheep and rabbit. Transmission electron microscopy and light microscopy of duodenal nerves showed distinct species differences.

Schematic illustration of LNP‐MPG nuclei‐targeting delivery of HMW‐FGF2 promoting histone acetylation to regulate the fate of DPSCs and treat spinal cord injury. LNPs components include pHMW‐FGF2 plasmid, DSPC, Dlin‐MC3‐DMA, cholesterol, and PEG2000, and are modified with MPG to form HMW‐FGF2@LNP‐MPG (HLM). HLM nuclei‐targets DPSCs to deliver HMW‐FGF2,

This study presents a magneto‐mechanical strategy that incorporates FP@MSCs into an aligned PCL/GelMA nerve guidance conduit. Magnetic stimulation increases membrane tension in FP@MSCs, triggering cytoskeletal remodeling, Schwann cell‐like differentiation, and TIMP1 secretion. TIMP1 activates ITGB1/CD63–FAK signaling in NE‐4C cells, increasing membrane

Axon diameters and conduction velocities in the macaque pyramidal tract
Small axons far outnumber larger fibers in the corticospinal tract, but the function of these small axons remains poorly understood. This is because they are difficult to identify, and therefore their physiology remains obscure. To assess the extent of the mismatch between anatomic and physiological measures, we compared conduction time and velocity ...

Axon Diameter Mapping in the Presence of Orientation Dispersion with Diffusion MRI [PDF]
Direct measurement of tissue microstructure with diffusion MRI offers a new class of biomarkers, such as axon diameters, that give more specific information about tissue than measures derived from diffusion tensors. The existing techniques of this kind assume a single axon orientation in the tissue model, which may be a reasonable approximation only ...

Inspired by conventional cell therapy and emerging bioengineering approaches, the tissue‐engineered nigrostriatal pathway (TE‐NSP) has an anatomically‐inspired design comprising a population of human dopaminergic neurons with unidirectional, long‐projecting axon tracts.

Myelination and isochronicity in neural networks
Our brain contains a multiplicity of neuronal networks. In many of these, information sent from presynaptic neurons travels through a variety of pathways of different distances, yet arrives at the postsynaptic cells at the same time.

Background Long-acting local anaesthetics (e.g. bupivacaine hydrochloride) or sustained-release formulations of bupivacaine (e.g. liposomal bupivacaine) may be neurotoxic when applied in the setting of diabetic neuropathy.

Inflammation contributes to axon reflex vasodilatation evoked by iontophoresis of an alpha-1 adrenoceptor agonist [PDF]
Iontophoresis of aradrenoceptor agonists in the human forearm evoke axon reflex vasodilatation, possibly due to an accumulation of inflammatory agents at the site of iontophoresis.
