The accurate taxonomic concept of the fungal Chaetomium species has been a hard work due to morphological similarity. Chemotaxonomy based on secondary metabolites is a powerful tool for taxonomical purposes, which could be used as an auxiliary reference to solve the problems encountered in the classification of Chaetomium.
