Curcumin: A new candidate for melanoma therapy?

open access: yes, 2016
Melanoma remains among the most lethal cancers and, in spite of great attempts that have been made to increase the life span of patients with metastatic disease, durable and complete remissions are rare.

The Immune Landscape of Acral Melanoma: From Basic to Clinical

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Acral melanoma (AM) is an aggressive melanoma subtype with poor prognosis and limited response to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs). Despite increasing research efforts, the mechanisms underlying therapeutic resistance remain incompletely understood.

Phenolic Content, Antioxidant Activity, Phytochemical Diversity, and Toxicological Potential of Tetradenia riparia (Hochst.) Codd Leaves

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Tetradenia riparia (Hochst.) Codd is a medicinal plant widely used in traditional medicine. However, comprehensive studies integrating its chemical composition, antioxidant capacity, and toxicological safety are still limited. This study aimed to characterize the phenolic content, antioxidant activity, phytochemical diversity, and ...

Saikosaponin A Inhibits Migration/Invasion and Triggers Cell‐Cycle Arrest and Autophagy‐Induced Cell Death in HCT116 Cells and In Vivo

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
Saikosaponin A from Radix Bupleuri inhibited colorectal cancer HCT116 cells with low toxicity. SSA induced S/G2‐M cell cycle arrest and triggered autophagy via mTOR inhibition. SSA suppressed metastasis by blocking PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. SSA significantly reduced tumor growth without apparent toxicity.

Resveratrol for Cancer Radio‐Sensitization: Ready for Prime Time or Future Perspective

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Resveratrol exerts antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory effects by reducing reactive oxygen species and suppressing NF‐κB and JAK/STAT signaling pathways. It modulates metabolic signaling through AMPK‐dependent inhibition of mTOR, influencing cell survival and inflammatory responses.

Anti-Melanogenic Effects of L-Theanine on B16F10 Cells and Zebrafish

open access: yesMolecules
L-Theanine, a natural amino acid found in green tea (Camellia sinensis) leaves, is known for its diverse psychotropic effects. This study aimed to evaluate the inhibitory effect of L-theanine on melanin production and uncover its regulatory mechanism. We evaluated the anti-melanogenic activities of L-theanine in vitro and in vivo.

Integrated Phytochemical Profiling and Multifunctional Bioactivities of Bellis annua Extracts Obtained by Distinct Extraction Techniques

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
The present study evaluates the effect of maceration, Soxhlet, and ultrasound‐assisted extraction on the phytochemical composition and biological activities of Bellis annua. LC–ESI–MS/MS analysis revealed chlorogenic acid as the dominant compound, while UAE enhanced flavonoid content and overall antioxidant capacity.

Hyperdifferentiated murine melanoma cells promote adaptive anti-tumor immunity but activate the immune checkpoint system

open access: yesOncoImmunology
Accumulating evidence suggests that phenotype switching of cancer cells is essential for therapeutic resistance. However, the immunological characteristics of drug-induced phenotype-switching melanoma cells (PSMCs) are unknown.

Action of Carnosic Acid Against Melanoma: A Strategy for Selective Radiosensitization with Protection of Non-Tumoral Cells

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
Carnosic acid (CA) is a phenolic diterpene with high antioxidant activity that supports its radioprotective capacity. This study aims to determine whether the radiosensitizing effect of CA established in B16F10 melanoma cells also occurs in other melanin-

Effects of Resveratrol Derivatives on Melanogenesis and Antioxidant Activity in B16F10 Cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
Excessive melanogenesis causes abnormal pigmentation and a higher risk of skin disorders (e.g., melanoma). Resveratrol (RSV), a natural polyphenol, exerts antioxidant and anti-aging effects. However, the effects of RSV and its derivatives on melanogenesis remain unclear. This study investigated their effects on melanogenesis and antioxidant activity in
