BTLA inhibition has a dominant role in the cis-complex of BTLA and HVEM

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
The engagement of the herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM, TNFRSF14) by the B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) represents a unique interaction between an activating receptor of the TNFR-superfamily and an inhibitory receptor of the Ig-superfamily.

Comparative Effectiveness and Safety of Inebilizumab Versus Rituximab in AQP4‐IgG‐Positive NMOSD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rituximab (anti‐CD20, RTX) and inebilizumab (anti‐CD19, INE) represent B‐cell‐depleting therapies used for aquaporin‐4 antibody‐positive (AQP4‐IgG+) neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD); however, direct comparative evidence remains limited.

B and T lymphocyte attenuator exhibits structural and expression polymorphisms and is highly induced in anergic CD4+ T cells [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2005
Abstract B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) was initially identified as expressed on Th1 cells and B cells, but recently reported to be expressed by macrophages, dendritic cells, and NK cells as well. To address this discrepancy we generated a panel of BTLA-specific mAbs and characterized BTLA expression under various activation ...

Diffuse MRI Edema Predicts Relapse in Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy–Related Inflammation

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To identify MRI predictors of relapse and quantify relapse and mortality risk in cerebral amyloid angiopathy–related inflammation (CAA‐RI). A secondary objective was to assess the association between mycophenolate mofetil use and relapse risk. Methods We performed a retrospective cohort study of 36 patients with CAA‐RI treated at the

Beyond Visual Scoring: Computational Computed Tomography Analysis for High‐Resolution Computed Tomography–Based Quantification of Interstitial Lung Disease in Inflammatory Rheumatic Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with inflammatory rheumatic disorders (IRDs). High‐resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is widely considered the gold standard for the noninvasive assessment of ILD; however, its interpretation is constrained by substantial interobserver variability and the ...

B and T Lymphocyte Attenuator is a Target of miR-155 during Naïve CD4+ T Cell Activation.

open access: yesIranian journal of immunology : IJI, 2016
MicroRNA-155 (miR-155) is upregulated during T cell activation, but the exact mechanisms by which it influences CD4+ T cell activation remain unclear. To examine whether the B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) is a target of miR-155 during naïve CD4+ T cell activation.Firefly luciferase reporter plasmids pEZX-MT01-wild-type-BTLA and pEZX-MT01-mutant ...

2‐Deoxyglucose Dendrimer‐Enabled Niclosamide Delivery to FRβ‐Expressing Macrophages Alleviates Endometriosis Progression and Associated Hyperalgesia

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A folic acid (FA)‐conjugated 2‐deoxyglucose dendrimer selectively targets FRβ+ macrophages in endometriotic lesions, enabling precise intracellular delivery of niclosamide. This nonhormonal nanomedicine enhances drug solubility, provides controlled intracellular release, suppresses lesion growth, reduces inflammation and pain, and establishes FRβ ...

B‐ and T‐Lymphocyte Attenuator in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Pathogenesis

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics
B‐ and T‐lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA; CD272) is an immunoglobulin superfamily member and part of a family of checkpoint inhibitory receptors that negatively regulate immune cell activation. The natural ligand for BTLA is herpes virus entry mediator (HVEM; TNFRSF14), and binding of HVEM to BTLA leads to attenuation of lymphocyte activation.

Water‐Activated Phospholipid Phase‐Separation Gel as an Immunomodulatory Anti‐Adhesion Barrier for Postoperative Adhesion Prevention

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A water‐activated phospholipid phase‐separation gel is repurposed as a drug‐free surgical barrier for postoperative adhesion prevention. Propylene glycol promotes rapid lamellar gel reinforcement, prolonged local retention, and tissue coverage, while phosphatidylcholine‐mediated immunomodulation suppresses inflammatory and fibrotic responses. This dual‐
