CD8 T cell memory to a viral pathogen requires trans cosignaling between HVEM and BTLA. [PDF]
Defining the molecular interactions required to program activated CD8 T cells to survive and become memory cells may allow us to understand how to augment anti-viral immunity.

The role of the B- and T-lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) in T cell activation

To date, certain problems have been identified in cancer immunotherapy using the inhibition of immune checkpoints (ICs). Despite the excellent effect of cancer therapy in some cases when blocking the PD-L1 (programmed death-ligand 1) ligand and the ...

Immune Checkpoint Protein Expression Defines the Prognosis of Advanced Thyroid Carcinoma
BackgroundPatients with advanced thyroid carcinoma (TC), such as anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC), poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma (PDTC), and locally advanced papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC), have poor prognoses and require novel treatments.

The two catalytic subunits of typhoid toxin dissociate from the holotoxin in the ER of an intoxicated cell, but only CdtB exits the ER to generate immunosuppressive effects. PltA is retained in the ER and sequestered from its cytosolic target, thus allowing the anti‐inflammatory effects of CdtB to promote intestinal colonization.

Chronobiology of Cancer: How Aging Fuels Oncogenesis at the Molecular Level
This graphical abstract illustrates the key biological pathways linking aging with cancer development and progression. In the upper left, cumulative exposure to ultraviolet radiation, toxins, and reactive oxygen species (ROS) causes DNA damage and genomic instability, whereas age‐related decline in repair mechanisms, such as ATM/ATR, BER, and NER ...

The Effect of Bicalutamide on Suppressing Inhibitory Immune Checkpoints in Mature Dendritic Cells: A Novel Approach in Prostate Cancer Immunotherapy [PDF]
Introduction: Bicalutamide, an antiandrogen agent used in prostate cancer treatment, has been shown to influence immune cells and alter the immune response within the tumor microenvironment.

Structural Determinants of Herpesvirus Entry Mediator Recognition by Murine B and T Lymphocyte Attenuator [PDF]
Abstract The B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA) appears to act as a negative regulator of T cell activation and growth. BTLA specifically interacts with herpesvirus entry mediator (HVEM), a member of the TNFR family. Herein, we have undertaken surface plasmon resonance studies to quantitatively assess BTLA and HVEM ectodomain ...

Cancer treatment is associated with measurable acceleration of biological aging across epigenetic, telomere, senescence, and immune biomarkers. However, biomarker validation and interventional strategies remain limited, especially in hematologic malignancies, underscoring the need for standardized multi‐omic aging assessments and adequately powered ...

Design of short peptides to block BTLA/HVEM interactions for promoting anticancer T-cell responses. [PDF]
Antibody based immune-checkpoint blockade therapy is a major breakthrough in oncology, leading to clinical benefit for cancer patients. Among the growing family of inhibitory receptors, the B and T lymphocyte attenuator (BTLA), which interacts with ...
