Characterization of thermophilic β-Glucosidase of rhizospheric bacterial strain (LSKB15) isolated from Cholistan Desert, Pakistan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fifty thermophilic bacterial strains isolated from rhizospheric soil of Cholistan desert, Pakistan, and designated as LSKB01-LSKB50 were screened for β-glucosidase gene (bgl) belonging to glycoside hydrolase family 1 (GH 1) using PCR technique ...

Milk‐Clotting Protease From Bacillus stercoris NCCP‐3139: A Potential Microbial Rennet for Cheese Production

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
A milk‐clotting protease from Bacillus stercoris NCCP‐3139 was isolated from soil and purified via ammonium sulfate precipitation and sequential chromatographic techniques, yielding a homogeneous enzyme confirmed by SDS–PAGE. The protease exhibited high catalytic selectivity, with a marked increase in milk‐clotting‐to‐proteolytic activity ratio (50–550)

Flavonoid Inhibition of Bacillus licheniformis LP‐8 Lipase: In Vitro and In Silico Insights Into Anti‐Obesity Potential

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Bacillus licheniformis LP‐8, isolated from hot spring, produced lipase using waste frying oil. Flavonoids inhibited enzyme activity, confirmed by reduced activity assays. Molecular docking revealed hydrogen‐bond interactions within the lipase active site.

Indicators and Bacterial Diversity of Subclinical Mastitis in Iran's Industrial Cattle Farms

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
In this study, the relationship between milk lactose and somatic cell count and the prevalence of bacterial agents of subclinical mastitis was investigated. Klebsiella spp. was identified as the most common pathogen and showed a pattern of antibiotic resistance.

Gap Analysis of Metabolic Conversions of Off‐Flavors and Antinutrients in Plant‐Based Substrates

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT To drastically reduce the carbon footprint of the food production chain, a major shift towards alternatives to conventional meat and dairy products is required. The use of plant‐based proteins is a promising route, but it also comes with challenges: Plant‐based proteins often contain antinutritional factors and off‐flavors, which can ...
