Backstepping control of polymerization reactor
2013 9th Asian Control Conference (ASCC), 2013This paper presents adaptive backstepping methodology for controlling polymerization process under parametric uncertainty and input saturation. In general controlling complex chemical processes is a challenging problem due to the structural mismatch and uncertainty of parameters. Adaptive algorithm, whether linear or non-linear, is an essential tool to

Backstepping Control for a Quadrotor Helicopter
2006 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2006This paper presents a nonlinear dynamic model for a quadrotor helicopter in a form suited for backstepping control design. Due to the under-actuated property of quadrotor helicopter, the controller can set the helicopter track three Cartesian positions (x, y, z) and the yaw angle to their desired values and stabilize the pitch and roll angles.

Backstepping Boundary ControlA Tutorial
2007 American Control Conference, 2007After briefly overviewing the application problems that call for boundary control method and the existing techniques for control of PDEs, the paper introduces the key concepts for spatially continuous backstepping control design for PDE systems. After that, a general procedure for parabolic PDEs of a "spatially causal" class is presented, followed by a

Modified backstepping control of Quadrotor
International Multi-Conference on Systems, Sygnals & Devices, 2012In this paper, a modified backstepping approach will be developed and applied to control unmanned areial vehicles (UAVs), Quadrotor. In this modified backstepping approach, the number of control parameters is reduced by half compared with the classical back stepping approach used in the literature.

Command filtered adaptive backstepping
Proceedings of the 2010 American Control Conference, 2010As the order of the system increases, implementation of adaptive backstepping controllers becomes increasingly complex due to the necessity to calculate analytically the partial derivatives of certain stabilizing functions with respect to the system state.

Laminar separating flow over backsteps and cavities. I - Backsteps
AIAA Journal, 1981Although significant data on flow over backward facing steps and cavities in turbulent flow are available, the corresponding data for the laminar flow are rather scant. The present work reports the results of an experimental investigation carried out at a wind speed of 1.8 m/s over three backward facing steps 0.625,1.25, and 2.5 cm high; the separating

Architecture Induced by Distributed Backstepping Design
IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2004An important problem in the distributed control of large-scale and infinite dimensional systems is related to the choice of the appropriate controller architecture. We utilize backstepping as a tool for distributed control of nonlinear infinite dimensional systems on lattices, and provide the answer to the following question: what is the worst case ...

Backstepping control in the physical domain
Journal of the Franklin Institute, 2001For systems of a certain structure, backstepping control can be used to alter the system's behaviour to a more desirable one. Contrary to other approaches based on equations and mathematical control theory, the author proposes the use of bond graphs to analyse the energy interaction between subsystems.

Backstepping control for an induction motor with an adaptive Backstepping rotor flux observer
18th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation, MED'10, 2010This paper deals with the synthesis of a stabilizing Backstepping nonlinear control provided with an adaptive Backstepping observer to estimate the rotor flux of an Induction Machine (IM). This approach is based on the vector control strategy by replacing the existing conventional controller with a Backstepping control in order to more quickly bring ...
