Establishing the Epidemiological Cut‐Off Value (ECOFF) for Cefquinome Against Staphylococcus aureus Using Standardised MIC Data

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
A total of 110 Staphylococcus aureus isolates from cattle were analysed to determine the epidemiological cut‐off value (ECOFF) for cefquinome. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) were determined using standardised agar dilution and broth microdilution methods following 24 h incubation.

Role of Gram‐Negative Bacterial Infections in Acute‐On‐Chronic Liver Failure

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute‐on‐chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a systemic disease characterised by an acute clinical deterioration of pre‐existing liver cirrhosis leading to multiple organ failure due to systemic inflammation. It may be triggered by the translocation of bacteria and bacterial compounds across the gut barrier.

To Beet or Not (Just) to Beet: Ecology, Virulence and Genomic Insights Into the Leaf Spot Disease Causative Pseudomonas syringae pv. aptata

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
We profile Pseudomonas syringae pv. aptata, causing bacterial leaf spot on chenopods and cucurbits, highlighting epidemiology, virulence mechanisms and integrated disease management strategies. ABSTRACT Taxonomy Kingdom Bacteria; Phylum Proteobacteria; Class Gammaproteobacteria; Family Pseudomonadaceae; Genus Pseudomonas; Species Pseudomonas syringae ...

Bacterial Ghosts as Innovative Transport Vehicles for Platinum‐Based Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 12, 26 June 2026.
Bacterial ghosts (BGs), empty envelopes of Gram‐negative E. coli, are introduced as versatile carriers for platinum anticancer drugs. Oxaliplatin (OXA) shows high loading, stability, and reproducible encapsulation, while retaining full cytotoxicity in vitro.

Targeting of Staphyloxanthin and α‐Hemolysin by Natural Compound L‐Malic Acid Suppresses Staphylococcus aureus Virulence

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
L‐malic acid, a natural TCA cycle intermediate, attenuates the virulence of Staphylococcus aureus through dual metabolic and regulatory mechanisms. It redirects central carbon flux away from the mevalonate pathway and inhibits the key enzyme CrtO, suppressing staphyloxanthin biosynthesis and impairing bacterial resistance to oxidative stress ...
