Baculovirus induction of a DNA polymerase [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 1981
The baculovirus, Autographa california nuclear polyhedrosis virus, induced a new aphidicolin-sensitive, alpha-like, DNA polymerase upon infection of the lepidopteran noctuid, Trichoplusia ni. The new virus-induced DNA polymerase could be separated from the host alpha-like polymerase by phosphocellulose chromatography.

Iflaviruses in arthropods: when small is mighty

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Many arthropod species harbor iflaviruses, which often cause covert (asymptomatic) infections, but may still affect host fitness. We review the impact of iflaviruses on arthropod fitness, immunity, behaviour as well as the iflavirus’ host range, transmission, tissue tropism and the interactions with other microorganisms within arthropods.

The baculovirus expression vector system: A commercial manufacturing platform for viral vaccines and gene therapy vectors

open access: yesBiotechnology Journal, 2015
The baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) platform has become an established manufacturing platform for the production of viral vaccines and gene therapy vectors.

In vivo transcriptional targeting into the retinal vasculature using recombinant baculovirus carrying the human flt-1 promoter

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2007
Background Endothelial cells are a target for gene therapy because they are implicated in a number of vascular diseases. Recombinant baculovirus have emerged as novel gene delivery vectors. However, there is no information available concerning the use of

A novel selective stabilizer of the ryanodine receptor 2 prevents stress‐induced ventricular arrhythmias without impairing cardiac function

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Aberrant activation of type 2 ryanodine receptors (RyR2) causes lethal arrhythmias, such as catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT). Developing drugs that suppress RyR2 hyperactivation may be key to novel arrhythmia treatments.

Sustained baculovirus-mediated expression in myogenic cells

open access: yes, 2008
[[abstract]]BACKGROUND: Baculovirus has emerged as a promising gene delivery vector due to its low cytotoxicity and nonreplication nature in mammalian cells.

Copper Treatment Increases Recombinant Baculovirus Production and Polyhedrin and p10 Expression

open access: yesBioTechniques, 1997
Treatment with 2 mM CuSO4 was used to induce a Drosophila melanogaster metallothionein (Mtn) promoter that had been cloned into a recombinant baculovirus.

Transgenic selection and underlying mechanisms in apicomplexan parasites

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Transgenic selection markers have driven genetic engineering in apicomplexans, enabling precise, iterative experiments. This review discusses mechanistic details of drug selection markers, strategies for marker recycling, and practical considerations for several clinically relevant parasites.

Characterization of a Baculovirus Alkaline Nuclease [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Virology, 2000
ABSTRACT All baculovirus genomes sequenced to date encode a homolog of an alkaline nuclease that has been characterized in the Herpesviridae . In this report we describe the characterization of the alkaline nuclease (AN) homolog of the Autographa californica multinucleocapsid ...

Regulation of the prostate-specific hTGP (TGM4) gene and its potential use for prostate cancer gene therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Prostate cancer is a very important health problem in the UK and worldwide. Available treatments such as radiotherapy, surgery and androgen ablation have failed to significantly increase the life expectancy of prostate cancer patients.
