BAP1 promotes viability and migration of ECA109 cells through KLF5/CyclinD1/FGF‐BP1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2021
More than 40 000 patients worldwide die from esophageal cancer annually. The 5‐year survival rate of patients is only ~ 15–20%, and thus, there is an ongoing need to improve diagnosis and treatment of esophageal cancer.

Expression levels of BAP1, OGT, and YY1 genes in patients with eyelid tumors

open access: yesTürk Biyokimya Dergisi, 2021
The aim of this study was to investigate BAP1, OGT and YY1 genes and protein levels in 12 samples (8 males, 4 females) of eyelid tumor tissue with basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and 12 normal control subjects (8 males, 4 females).

BAP1: role in carcinogenesis and clinical implications

open access: yesTranslational Lung Cancer Research, 2020
BRCA-1 associated protein 1 (BAP1) is a tumor suppressor gene that has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several malignancies and is gaining more recognition as a crucial gene that could be amenable to therapeutic manipulation. There is a growing interest in prevention and establishing cancer screening guidelines in patients with germline BAP1 ...

A common ancestry for BAP1 and Uch37 regulators [PDF]

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2012
Abstract Summary: To reveal how the polycomb repressive–deubiquitinase (PR–DUB) complex controls substrate selection specificity, we undertook a detailed computational sequence analysis of its components: additional sex combs like 1 (ASXL1) and BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) proteins.

BAP1 in lung adenocarcinoma and thyroid

open access: yes, 2018
BAP1 mutations influence the development of multiple tumors and are associated with poor prognosis. Its germline mutations are associated with hereditary cancer known as BAP1-tumor predisposing syndrome.

BAP1 regulates epigenetic switch from pluripotency to differentiation in developmental lineages giving rise to BAP1-mutant cancers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The BAP1 tumor suppressor is mutated in many human cancers such as uveal melanoma, leading to poor patient outcome. It remains unclear how BAP1 functions in normal biology or how its loss promotes cancer progression.

BAP1 Regulates the Hair Cycle through the TGFβ Signaling Pathway [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
As a skin appendage organ, the hair follicle provides an excellent paradigm to study tissue homeostasis as adult hair follicles continuously undergo cycles of growth (anagen), regression (catagen), and rest (telogen). BRCA-associated protein 1 (BAP1) is

Nuclear localization of BRCA1-associated protein 1 is important in suppressing hepatocellular carcinoma metastasis via CTCF and NRF1/OGT axis

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Germline mutations of the deubiquitinase BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) lead to the “BAP1 cancer syndrome” characterized by development of cancers. However, the role of BAP1 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unclear.

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

The Plant‐to‐Plant Circular Strategy: Coupling Photodegradation and Phytoremediation With Plant‐Based Nanomaterials for Plastic Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐based nanomaterials derived from alfalfa serve as dual‐function catalysts, coupling photodegradation and phytoremediation to degrade polyethylene under UV‐A light and in soil. The nanomaterials work synergistically with alfalfa and soil microbes, achieving efficient plastic breakdown without trophic transfer.
