Cryptic Splicing of GAP43 mRNA is a Novel Hallmark of TDP‐43‐Associated ALS and AD
TDP‐43 dysfunction disrupts RNA processing, inducing cryptic exon 4a1 inclusion in GAP43 and reducing its protein levels. This aberrant splicing impairs axonal regeneration and contributes to neurodegeneration in ALS and AD. RNA‐seq of patient brains reveals GAP43 downregulation and 4a1 upregulation, identifying cryptic exon 4a1 as a potential ...

Sympathetic nerve innervation promotes the progression of Epstein‐Barr virus‐positive diffuse large B‐cell lymphoma (EBV+ DLBCL) via β2‐adrenergic receptors. The discovery of enhanced nerve infiltration and β2AR expression reveals a novel mechanism and highlights the sympathetic–β2AR axis as a promising target for therapeutic intervention in EBV+ DLBCL.

DHA (omega-3 fatty acid) increases the action of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)
Neurons have high energy needs, requiring a continuous supply of glucose from the blood. Tight regulation of glucose metabolism in response to stimuli is essential for brain physiology.

Background The mechanisms through which physical activity supports healthy brain function remain to be elucidated. One hypothesis suggests that increased brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) mediates some cognitive and mood benefits.

Down-regulation of serotonergic genes expression in the raphe nuclei of midbrain under chronic social defeat stress in male mice [PDF]
Background: There is ample experimental evidence supporting the hypothesis that the brain serotonergic system is involved in the control of chronic social defeat stress (CSDS), depression and anxiety.

Pischiutta F and coworkers identify prostaglandins and kynurenine as key mediators of the mesenchymal stromal cells‐derived secretome's neuroprotective effects. A synthetic cocktail composed of these factors promotes long‐term functional recovery, reduces brain structural damage, and modulates neuroinflammation after traumatic brain injury, supporting ...

C-phycocyanin shows neuroprotective effect against rotenone-induced Parkinson’s disease in mice
Objective: To investigate the neuroprotective effect of C-phycocyanin in a mouse model of rotenone-induced Parkinson’s disease. Methods: C-phycocyanin (50 mg/kg, i.p., daily) was administered to rotenone (30 mg/kg, p.o., daily) treated mice for 28 days ...

Crosstalk Between Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor And N-Methyl-D-Aspartate Receptor Signaling In Neurons [PDF]
Glutamate is the major excitatory neurotransmitter in brain exerting prosurvival effect on neurons via N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) signaling under physiological conditions.
