Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Benzimidazole Derivatives and Analogs Targeting the NLRP3 Inflammasome

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
A series of benzo[d]imidazole analogues of thiabenzole were synthesized and their antiinflammatory activities toward NLRP3 (nucleotide‐binding domain leucine‐rich repeat containing protein family, pyrin domain‐containing 3,also known as cryopyrin or NALP3)

An Update: Enzymatic Synthesis for Industrial Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Biocatalysis has become a sustainable and cost‐competitive alternative to established chemical synthesis, enabling the enzyme‐based production of not only commodity chemicals but (non‐natural) amino acids, (rare) sugars, as well as synthetic nucleotides.

Mechanochemistry‐Driven Borrowing Hydrogen Processes for Ru‐Catalyzed N‐Alkylation: A Pathway to Enhanced Sustainability and Efficiency

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
This study presents the first mechanochemical borrowing hydrogenation (BH) strategy, offering a direct and efficient route to N‐alkylated amines and heterocycles. This solvent‐free approach overcomes many challenges associated with conventional solution‐based syntheses, such as toxic reagents, inert atmospheres, high temperatures, lengthy reaction ...

Tuning Reactivity in Cu/TEMPO Catalyzed Alcohol Oxidation Reactions

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, EarlyView.
Novel copper(I) complexes bearing a secondary amine moiety (CuL3) or an additional non‐innocent functionality with intact imine group (Cu2L42) were synthesized and tested towards oxidation reactions. Several intermediates, such as Cu(III)2(bis‐μ‐oxo) and Cu(II)2(bis‐μ‐hydroxo), species were trapped and spectroscopically characterized.

Mechanistic evaluations of photocatalytic access to N‐centered radicals and nitrenoids

open access: yesBulletin of the Korean Chemical Society, EarlyView.
Recently, the photocatalytic formation of reactive N‐centered radicals or nitrenes from prefunctionalized amine precursors via single‐electron transfer (SET) or triplet–triplet energy transfer (TTEnT) has been significantly developed. However, the detailed electron flow during N–X bond cleavage leading to these intermediates remains unclear. Herein, we
