Structure of benzothiadiazine at zwitterionic phospholipid cell membranes [PDF]
The use of drugs derived from benzothiadiazine, which is a bicyclic heterocyclic benzene derivative, has become a widespread treatment for diseases such as hypertension (treated with diuretics such as bendroflumethiazide or chlorothiazide), low blood sugar (treated with non-diuretic diazoxide), or the human immunodeficiency virus, among others. In this

Effects of benzothiadiazine drugs on carbohydrate metabolism [PDF]
Abstract The administration of chlorothiazide both to man and to rats results in hyperglycemia following a glucose load. Its administration to rats causes a decreased rate of glucose utilization by their adipose tissue in vitro. Chlorothiazide added directly to the incubating medium also decreases the rate of glucose utilization of rat adipose tissue.

THE EFFECT OF BENZOTHIADIAZINE DIURETICS ON THE RENAL CONCENTRATING MECHANISM OF THE SHEEP [PDF]
The effects of an infusion of vasopressin (40 m. U. I. V.) were studied in conscious sheep. Vasopressin caused consistent increases in urinary total solute and K output and variable increases in Na and Cl excretion. Vasopressin always increased water reabsorption relative to solute reabsorption, although an antidiuresis did not occur when the initial ...

Discovery of Halogenated Benzothiadiazine Derivatives with Anticancer Activity** [PDF]
AbstractMitochondrial respiratory complex II (CII), also known as succinate dehydrogenase, plays a critical role in mitochondrial metabolism. Known but low potency CII inhibitors are selectively cytotoxic to cancer cells including the benzothiadiazine‐based anti‐hypoglycemic diazoxide.

Anti-HIV-1 Activity of Benzothiadiazine Dioxide [PDF]
Antiviral assays carried out on the potent benzothiadiazine dioxide (BTD) human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) inhibitors have led us to find marginal but selective anti-HIV-1 activity. Specific pharmacological studies, such as time of addition experiments and assays on specific viral strains with mutations on its reverse transcriptase, have indicated that ...
