In Silico Drug Design of Benzothiadiazine Derivatives Interacting with Phospholipid Cell Membranes [PDF]

open access: yesMembranes, 2022
The use of drugs derived from benzothiadiazine, a bicyclic heterocyclic benzene derivative, has become a widespread treatment for diseases such as hypertension, low blood sugar or the human immunodeficiency virus, among others.

A cell-based assay for RNA synthesis by the HCV polymerase reveals new insights on mechanism of polymerase inhibitors and modulation by NS5A. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
RNA synthesis by the genotype 1b hepatitis C virus (HCV) polymerase (NS5B) transiently expressed in Human embryonic kidney 293T cells or liver hepatocytes was found to robustly stimulate RIG-I-dependent luciferase production from the interferon β ...

Effects of benzothiadiazine drugs on carbohydrate metabolism [PDF]

open access: yesMetabolism, 1965
Abstract The administration of chlorothiazide both to man and to rats results in hyperglycemia following a glucose load. Its administration to rats causes a decreased rate of glucose utilization by their adipose tissue in vitro. Chlorothiazide added directly to the incubating medium also decreases the rate of glucose utilization of rat adipose tissue.

Anti-HIV-1 Activity of Benzothiadiazine Dioxide

open access: yesAntiviral Chemistry and Chemotherapy, 2001
Antiviral assays carried out on the potent benzothiadiazine dioxide (BTD) human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) inhibitors have led us to find marginal but selective anti-HIV-1 activity. Specific pharmacological studies, such as time of addition experiments and assays on specific viral strains with mutations on its reverse transcriptase, have indicated that ...

Discovery of Halogenated Benzothiadiazine Derivatives with Anticancer Activity**

open access: yesChemMedChem, 2020
Abstract Mitochondrial respiratory complex II (CII), also known as succinate dehydrogenase, plays a critical role in mitochondrial metabolism. Known but low potency CII inhibitors are selectively cytotoxic to cancer cells including the benzothiadiazine‐based anti‐hypoglycemic diazoxide.
