Recognition of molecularly imprinted polymers for a quaternary alkaloid of berberine
Talanta, 2011Selective and affinitive imprinted polymers incorporating a quaternary alkaloid of berberine (BER) were prepared using a non-covalent imprinting method. The results showed that, compared to other imprinted polymers, the polymer AD-10 had not only a higher of the ratio of Q(MIP)/Q(BP) for BER adsorption, and but also a larger of the ratio of Q(MIP,B)/Q ...

Effect of berberine alkaloids on Bifidobacterium adolescentis growth by microcalorimetry
Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2009The inhibitory effects of three berberine alkaloids (BAs) from Coptis chinensis Franch on Bifidobacterium adolescentis growth were investigated by microcalorimetry. The growth rate constant (k) and maximum heat-output power (Pmax) decreased and peak time of maximum heat-output power (tp) prolonged with the increase of BAs concentration. Half inhibitory

Alkaloids of the Papaveraceae V. Muramine and berberine from Argemone squarrosa
Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1967Argemone squarrosa Greene (subsp. squarrosa ) from several locations in central New Mexico was found to contain mainly muramine and berberine, but no allocryptopine. This is in contrast to an earlier literature finding that the same species from southern Colorado contained allocryptopine as the major, if not only, alkaloid.

BERBERINE, A NATURAL ALKALOID, AFFECTS ZEBRAFISH CARDIOVASCULAR DEVELOPMENT
2016The zebrafish larva is increasingly used as a vertebrate animal model for in vivo drug discovery and for toxicology and biosafety assessments, bridging the gap between cell assays and rodent assays. In fact, zebrafish responses to toxic compounds are highly predictive of mammalian responses because of their very similar physiology, development and ...

Crude extracts obtained from the stem bark of Mahonia aquifolium have been investigated as to the chemical composition and anticomplementary activity. The results show that their anticomplementary activity is mainly due to the alkaloid components.
