Wnt/beta-catenin signaling.

Cytokine & growth factor reviews, 2000
The Wnt/Wingless signaling transduction pathway plays an important role in both embryonic development and tumorigenesis. beta-Catenin, a key component of the Wnt signaling pathway, interacts with the TCF/LEF family of transcription factors and activates transcription of Wnt target genes.

Geldanamycin abrogates ErbB2 association with proteasome-resistant beta-catenin in melanoma cells, increases beta-catenin-E-cadherin association, and decreases beta-catenin-sensitive transcription.

Cancer research, 2001
Beta-catenin undergoes both serine and tyrosine phosphorylation. Serine phosphorylation in the amino terminus targets beta-catenin for proteasome degradation, whereas tyrosine phosphorylation in the COOH terminus influences interaction with E-cadherin.

Expression of beta-catenin in human tooth germ.

Analytical and quantitative cytology and histology, 2009
To evaluate beta-catenin expression in human tooth germ development.Specimens of 7 human fetuses aged between the ninth and sixteenth week were examined for beta-catenin expression by immunohistochemistry. In the bud stage, we observed catenin membranous positivity for all primitive dental lamina and dental ridge cells, cytoplasmic positivity for tooth ...

[APC, beta-catenin, DLG].

Gan to kagaku ryoho. Cancer & chemotherapy, 1997
The APC gene is mutated in the majority of colorectal tumors. The product of this gene is a 300 kDa protein associated with beta-catenin and the human homolog of the Drosophila tumor suppressor DLG. The study of the function of APC provides important insights into the mechanisms of the development of colorectal tumor.

Wnt/beta-catenin pathway.

Science's STKE : signal transduction knowledge environment, 2006
Wnts are secreted glycoproteins that act as ligands to stimulate receptor-mediated signal transduction pathways in both vertebrates and invertebrates. Activation of Wnt pathways can modulate cell proliferation, survival, cell behavior, and cell fate in both embryos and adults.

Biocard 42: beta-catenin

2007
Beta-catenin is a 92-kDa protein first identified as a molecule associated with the cytoplasmic tail of E-cadherin, as it links E-cadherin to the cytoskeleton. It is a key element in the WNT pathway. In the cytoplasm, beta-catenin forms a complex together with adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) tumor suppressor protein, axin and GSK3beta.
