Resolving Conflicts by a Random Device [PDF]

open access: yes
We examine conflict resolution via a random device. We model conflict as a two-agent rent-seeking contest for a fixed prize. Before conflict arises, both agents may agree to allocate the prize by coin flip to avoid the costs of conflict.

Engineering Nanoclay Edges to Construct Effective Polysulfide‐Trapping Interface for Markedly Enhanced Electrochemical Energy Storage

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A capsule‐shaped silicate clay (H‐ATP‐N2) rich in protonated edge hydroxyl groups (‐OH2+) is synthesized through a two‐step process involving microwave‐assisted acid treatment and N2 plasma etching to fibrous natural attapulgite. The H‐ATP‐N2 host inhibits the shuttle effect owing to the dominant adsorption mechanism–Lewis acid–base interaction between

Gibbs Free Energy‐Driven Li–MgF2 Composite Anodes for Stable Solid‐State Lithium Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A Li–MgF2 composite anode has been engineered through a Gibbs free energy‐driven reaction of molten Li with MgF2. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of the LiF and LixMg segregated structure, the Li–MgF2|garnet interface achieves a low interfacial resistance of 8.2 Ω cm2, and the Li–MgF2|garnet|Li–MgF2 symmetric cells accomplish ultrastable cycling

Synergistic Regulation of Hierarchical Anode Interphase and Cathode Electronic Structure by a Fe(III) Complex for High‐Performance Aqueous Zinc‐Manganese Battery

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The NGB additive can concurrently address anode and cathode issues during Zn‐Mn battery cycling by constructing a hierarchical interfacial layer on the anode surface to alleviate side reactions and modulate zinc deposition and by incorporating Fe3+ ions into the α‐MnO2 cathode to improve its structural stability and electrical conductivity.

A High‐Performance Oxidized Graphene for Dendrite‐Free Anodes and Kinetically Enhanced Cathodes of Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Oxidized graphene rich in carboxylic acid groups obtained via a simple electrochemical exfoliation route is shown to tackle the main challenges of aqueous Zn‐ion batteries (AZIBs), specifically short Zn anode cycle life and sluggish cathode reaction kinetics.

Transendocardial injection of expanded autologous CD34+ cells after myocardial infarction: Design of the EXCELLENT trial

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1455-1463, April 2025.
Abstract Aims The extent of irreversible cardiomyocyte necrosis after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major determinant of residual left ventricular (LV) function and clinical outcome. Cell therapy based on CD34+ cells has emerged as an option to help repair the myocardium and to improve outcomes.
