Pioglitazone is an antidiabetic drug acting as a peroxisome proliferator‐activated receptor γ (PPARγ) agonist and later repositioned as a monoamine oxidase B (MAO‐B) inhibitor. Despite promising preclinical premises, it showed a lack of efficacy in clinical trials as a treatment for neurodegenerative diseases.

Extending Cofactor‐Tethered Nanomachines to Complex Multienzyme Redox Cascades in Continuous Flow
Engineered enzyme fusions bearing covalently tethered PEG–nicotinamide cofactors enable intramolecular cofactor retention and recycling within self‐sufficient biocatalytic nanomachines. These nanomachines support cofactor‐autonomous operation of complex redox multienzyme cascades under continuous‐flow conditions, as demonstrated in a 10‐step glucose‐to‐

Biological Stability of Wine and Biogenic Amines [PDF]
Biogenic amines should not be present in wines and they are always an indication for the activity of undesired micro-organisms with a high amino decarboxylase activity as found in the lactic acid bacteria Pediococcus damnosus.

Biogenic Amines Determination in “Plant Milks” [PDF]
“Plant milks” are water-based beverages, such as, extracts from cereals, pseudo-cereals, oil seeds, legumes or fruits. Plant milk consumption is rising in European and North American markets due to problems related to cow milk allergies, intolerances ...

ABSTRACT Olaparib belongs to the PARP inhibitors and is widely used as an anticancer drug. Due to frequent side effects, it is usually co‐administered with an antihypertensive, such as propranolol and/or an antidiuretic, such as furosemide. In this study, a highly sensitive HPLC‐FLD method was developed for the simultaneous determination of the three ...

ABSTRACT A focused library of 19 donepezil‐linked chalcones (DLCs) was efficiently synthesised through microwave‐assisted Claisen‐Schmidt condensation and subsequently profiled for their inhibitory activities against cholinesterases (AChE and BuChE) as well as monoamine oxidases (MAO‐A and MAO‐B).

Turkey breast meat was marinated with lactic acid (pH 4.0), yogurt whey, kefir, or yogurt (1:1, w/w) for 24 h at 4°C and then cooked at 185°C for 15 min. Fermented dairy‐based marinades improved meat quality without promoting excessive biogenic amine formation.
