Microbial Metabolite‐Stimulated Bitter Taste Receptor T2R14 Signaling Is Modulated by CFTR Interactions

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Bitter taste receptors (T2Rs) play an important role in physiological and cellular responses. Bitter tasting chemicals and microbial metabolites can bind to T2R14, which enables interactions between T2R14 and specific intracellular domains of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) anion channel.

Using a NanoBRET‐Based Ligand‐Binding Assay at the β2‐Adrenoceptor for Undergraduate Pharmacology Education

open access: yesPharmacology Research &Perspectives, Volume 14, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The teaching of pharmacology includes a fundamental understanding of ligand binding; how it is measured and how it is calculated. We sought to modernize the techniques by which ligand affinity is determined by undergraduate students and introduce them to parameter estimation through curve fitting.

NanoBRET in C. elegans illuminates functional receptor interactions in real time

open access: yesBMC Molecular and Cell Biology, 2022
Background Protein-protein interactions form the basis of every organism and thus, investigating their dynamics, intracellular protein localization, trafficking and interactions of distinct proteins such as receptors and their ligand-binding are of ...

Comprehensive transduceromic profiling of NOP receptor ligands at different Gα subunits

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 12, Page 3195-3212, June 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose The nociceptin/orphanin FQ (N/OFQ) peptide receptor (NOP) is an opioid receptor family member with distinct pharmacology and broad therapeutic potential. NOP receptors regulate functions such as nociception, stress reactivity, reward, mood, autonomic tone, immunity and sleep/wake cycle.

Light‐ and Bioluminescence‐Controlled Reversible Protein Conjugation on the Inner Leaflet of Asymmetric Phospholipid‐Amphiphilic Protein Hybrid Vesicles

open access: yesChemPlusChem, Volume 91, Issue 5, May 2026.
We established light‐ and bioluminescence‐responsive systems that allow reversible conjugation and dissociation of proteins on the inner leaflet of asymmetric lipid–amphiphilic protein hybrid vesicles. These systems provide a versatile platform for precise spatiotemporal regulation and bioluminescence‐triggered protein release within synthetic vesicles.

Real‐Life Application of a Point‐of‐Care Biosensor for Phenylalanine in Patients With Phenylketonuria

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Phenylketonuria (PKU) is a rare metabolic disorder causing elevated phenylalanine (PHE) levels requiring lifelong dietary or pharmacological management and regular monitoring. Current PHE monitoring methods, such as tandem mass spectrometry (FIA‐MS/MS), are laboratory and sample transport‐dependent, leading to delays in obtaining results. This
