Synergistic Enhancement of Straw Hydrolysis and Lactic Acid Production in Talaromyces pinophilus Through Combined Random Mutagenesis and Plasmid Reconstruction

open access: yesJournal of Fungi
Lignocellulosic biorefineries are limited by the high cost of cellulolytic enzymes. Consolidated bioprocessing (CBP), which integrates saccharification and fermentation in one step, offers a solution to this challenge.

Methanesulfonic Acid as a Dual‐Role Reagent for Porous Polymer Network Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The design of porous polymer networks (PPNs) using methanesulfonic acid (MSA) as a dual‐role reagent facilitates the synthesis of robust PPNs for specific applications. It also makes the scale‐up process techno‐economically feasible because MSA functions simultaneously as both a solvent and a catalyst for the reaction.

A Cryopreservation‐Based Supply Chain Strategy for Extrusion Bioprinting in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Extrusion bioprinting on crewed space platforms requires a bioink that stays functional along the logistic chain. Here, cells and biomaterial ink travel separately, the cells cryopreserved and the ink cold stored, and are combined only minutes before printing.

A Clinical Study of Decellularized Tissue Engineering Hyaline Cartilage Graft (dLhCG) for Articular Cartilage Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current clinical approaches for knee cartilage repair are often limited by hypertrophy and fibrosis in the regenerated tissues. A decellularized tissue‐engineered hyaline cartilage graft (dLhCG), composed of a type II collagen‐based extracellular matrix, has been developed to overcome this limitation.

Deciphering the Role of Energy Transfer Configuration in PFAS Recognition by Metal‐Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Spatial organization of Eu/Tb centers in EuTb‐FDA MOFs is employed to regulate Tb‐to‐Eu energy transfer configuration for ratiometric PFAS sensing. Directional energy transfer amplifies PFAS‐induced optical perturbations into opposite lanthanide emission responses, with enhanced Tb emission and quenched Eu emission, thereby amplifying the sensing ...

On the Way to in vitro Platelet Production

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2018
The severely decreased platelet counts (10–30. 103 platelets/μL) frequently observed in patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation treatment, or organ transplantation are associated with life-threatening increased bleeding risks.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...
