Heterogeneous Visible‐Light Photocatalysis in Continuous‐Flow: A Synergistic Strategy for Challenging Trifluoromethylation of α, α‐Diaryl Allylic Alcohols via 1,2‐aryl Migration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A continuous‐flow photocatalytic strategy is presented for the efficient synthesis of β‐trifluoromethyl ketones under visible light. Using a recyclable solid photocatalyst and an inexpensive CF3 source, the method enables rapid reactions, easy scale‐up, and smooth integration into multistep flow synthesis of bioactive molecules.

Slow Turning Lateral Vessel Bioreactor Improves Embryoid Body Formation and Cardiogenic Differentiation of Mouse Embryonic Stem Cells.

open access: yes, 2013
Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) have the ability to form aggregates, which are called embryoid bodies (EBs). EBs mimic early embryonic development and are commonly produced for cardiomyogenesis.

Desulfovibrio paquesii sp. nov., a hydrogenotrophic sulfate-reducing bacterium isolated from a synthesis-gas-fed bioreactor treating zinc- and sulfate-rich wastewater

open access: yes, 2009
A hydrogenotrophic, sulfate-reducing bacterium, designated strain SB1(T), was isolated from sulfidogenic sludge of a full-scale synthesis-gas-fed bioreactor used to remediate wastewater from a zinc smelter. Strain SB1(T) was found to be an abundant micro-

Biosynthesis of Sciadonic Acid Derived from Gymnosperms with Anti‐Colitis Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study establishes an efficient Yarrowia lipolytica platform for unusual sciadonic acid (SCA) production and assess the anti‐colitis efficacy in mice of SCA, supporting its potential as a novel therapeutic lipid. ABSTRACT Sciadonic acid (SCA), Δ5‐unsaturated fatty acid with anti‐inflammatory and lipid‐regulatory properties, is predominantly derived

Brown Adipocyte Sheets Alleviate Myocardial Ischemia–Reperfusion Injury Through NRG4–ErbB4–Dependent Ferroptosis Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Brown adipocyte sheets are engineered to protect the heart against myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury by restraining ferroptosis. Upon transplantation onto the cardiac surface, they improve cardiac function, limit infarction and fibrosis, and enhance angiogenesis.

Bioreactor Systems for Tissue Engineering

open access: yes, 2009
The hydrodynamic environment “created” by bioreactors for the culture of a tissue engineered construct (TEC) is known to influence cell migration, proliferation and extra cellular matrix production. However, tissue engineers have looked at bioreactors as
