Comprehensive transcriptomic analysis of cell lines as models of primary tumors across 22 tumor types. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cancer cell lines are a cornerstone of cancer research but previous studies have shown that not all cell lines are equal in their ability to model primary tumors.

ZBTB21 Is a Dual Suppressor of Pyroptosis and MHC‐I Antigen Presentation That Promotes Tumor Immune Evasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ZBTB21 is a transcription factor that epigenetically suppresses pyroptosis and MHC‐I antigen presentation, enabling tumor immune evasion. Genetic ablation of ZBTB21 activates pyroptotic cell death and enhances antigen presentation, recruiting CD8+ T cells to overcome immune checkpoint blockade resistance.

Identifying prognostic characteristics of m6A-related glycolysis gene and predicting the immune infiltration landscape in bladder cancer

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2023
Backgrounds Glucose metabolism is associated with the development of cancers, and m6A RNA methylation regulator-related genes play vital roles in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA).

What killed Frame Lake? A precautionary tale for urban planners [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Frame Lake, located within the city of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, has been identified as requiring significant remediation due to its steadily declining water quality and inability to support fish by the 1970s.

Pancancer Fine‐Mapping of Mutational Intolerance Identifies CHEK1 as an Immunosuppressive Driver in Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies mutation‐intolerant genes (MIGs), which are mutationally constrained in tumors despite normal‐tissue variability. Using miDriver, the authors pinpoint MIGs essential for tumor‐intrinsic fitness and immune evasion. Focusing on CHEK1, they show it drives tumor fitness and sculpts an immunosuppressive niche via the MIF–CD74 axis ...

Apoptosis related genes mediated molecular subtypes depict the hallmarks of the tumor microenvironment and guide immunotherapy in bladder cancer

open access: yesBMC Medical Genomics, 2023
Apoptosis has been discovered as a mechanism of cell death. The purpose of this study is to identify the diagnostic signature factors related to bladder cancer (BLCA) through apoptosis related genes (ARGs).

Development of a prognostic model to predict BLCA based on anoikis-related gene signature: preliminary findings

open access: yesBMC Urology, 2023
Abstract Background The prevalence of bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLCA) is significant on a global scale. Anoikis is a type of procedural cell death that has an important role in tumor invasion and metastasis. The advent of single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) approaches has revolutionized the genomics field by ...

Tumor‐Derived Exosomal TAGLN2 Promotes Metastasis by Inducing Vascular Permeability and Angiogenesis via the NRP1/SEMA4D/YAP Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gastric cancer‐derived exosomal TAGLN2 is identified as a key mediator of vascular reprogramming, with significantly elevated levels detected in patient serum. Independent of canonical SEMA4D signaling, it nucleates a cytoplasmic TAGLN2/NRP1/SEMA4D ternary complex that dually activates YAP, promoting angiogenesis, vascular dysfunction, and metastasis ...

TEAD4 functions as a prognostic biomarker and triggers EMT via PI3K/AKT pathway in bladder cancer

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2022
Background The distant metastasis is the primary cause of cancer morbidity and mortality for bladder cancer (BLCA) paitents. All the recommended therapy for it largely depends on how far the cancer has invaded.

Prediction of inherited genomic susceptibility to 20 common cancer types by a supervised machine-learning method. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Prevention and early intervention are the most effective ways of avoiding or minimizing psychological, physical, and financial suffering from cancer. However, such proactive action requires the ability to predict the individual's susceptibility to cancer
