Fighting HIV-1 Persistence: At the Crossroads of “Shoc-K and B-Lock”

open access: yesPathogens, 2021
Despite the success of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), integrated HIV-1 proviral DNA cannot be eradicated from an infected individual. HAART is not able to eliminate latently infected cells that remain invisible to the immune system.

Revocable locks for non-blocking programming [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the tenth ACM SIGPLAN symposium on Principles and practice of parallel programming, 2005
In this paper we present a new form of revocable lock that streamlines the construction of higher level concurrency abstractions such as atomic multi-word heap updates. The key idea is to expose revocation by displacing the previous lock holder's execution to a safe address. This provides mutual exclusion without needing to block threads.

Block the Roads, Lock the Doors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Human and Health Sciences (IJHHS), 2021
Pseudoaneurysm of the uterine arteries is a rare cause of secondary postpartum haemorrhage (PPH), following caesarean section or vaginal delivery. Whilst uterine artery embolization serves as an important and effective treatment for most cases of symptomatic uterine artery pseudoaneurysm, it is not without the risk of failing.

JME 4110: LEGO-Lock Block [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Design a building block device that assembles similarly to a LEGO brick, but also has the capability to lock an assembly state between two bricks. Scale (size) not critical for this proof of concept (standard LEGO blocks may be too small for this first ...

Parameterization of the ABS electronic control unit for increasing the autonomous trucks’ active safety [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2021
The article is devoted to the issue of improving the autonomous vehicles safety. The anti-lock braking system was chosen as the object of the study, since it is one of the components of the vehicle active safety during emergency braking.

Reduce and Control: A Combinatorial Strategy for Achieving Sustained HIV Remissions in the Absence of Antiretroviral Therapy

open access: yesViruses, 2020
Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1) indefinitely persists, despite effective antiretroviral therapy (ART), within a small pool of latently infected cells. These cells often display markers of immunologic memory and harbor both replication-competent and -

Lock-in amplification based on sigma-delta oversampling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Synchronous detection is used to detect and measure very low-level signals in the presence of significant noise. A defining characteristic of this measurement approach is the use of a periodic probe signal to excite the system under test.

Forging a Functional Cure for HIV: Transcription Regulators and Inhibitors

open access: yesViruses, 2022
Current antiretroviral therapy (ART) increases the survival of HIV-infected individuals, yet it is not curative. The major barrier to finding a definitive cure for HIV is our inability to identify and eliminate long-lived cells containing the dormant ...
