Penicillium digitatum, Penicillium italicum (Green Mold, Blue Mold)

open access: yes, 2014
Green and blue molds, caused by the pathogens Penicillium digitatum and Penicillium italicum, respectively, are the most economically important postharvest diseases of citrus fruit in all production areas with low summer rainfall. Both fungi are strict wound pathogens that affect all citrus species and cultivars and can infect the fruit in the field ...

Occurrence and prevention of blue mold disease in apples

open access: yesMycotoxins, 2008

Phenotypic Variation of Botrytis cinerea Isolates Is Influenced by Spectral Light Quality

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2020
Botrytis cinerea, a fungal pathogen that causes gray mold, displays a high degree of phenotypic diversity. Light emitting diodes (LEDs) with specific light spectrum are increasingly used as lighting resource for plant greenhouse production.

CHARACTERIZATION OF THE PENICILLIUM ISOLATES ASSOCIATED WITH BLUE MOLD ON KIWFRUITS IN SERBIA [PDF]

open access: yesBook of Proceedings
Kiwifruits are edible berries from woody vines belonging to the genus Actinidia, native to southwest China, but sold and widely consumed worldwide, including in Serbia. The nutritional benefits of these fruits include richness with vitamin C and significant levels of dietary fiber, vitamin E, folate, and potassium.

Genetic Dissection of Disease Resistance to the Blue Mold Pathogen, Peronospora tabacina, in Tobacco

open access: yesAgronomy, 2015
Tobacco blue mold, caused by the obligately biotrophic oomycete pathogen Peronospora tabacina D.B. Adam, is a major foliar disease that results in significant losses in tobacco-growing areas. Natural resistance to P.

Actigard Increases Fungicide Efficacy Against Tobacco Blue Mold [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Disease, 2008
Blue mold, caused by Peronospora tabacina, can be economically damaging to cigar wrapper tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). We evaluated acibenzolar-S-methyl (ASM) as Actigard 50WG alone and in combination with a standard fungicide program for efficacy against blue mold on shade-grown cigar wrapper tobacco in Windsor, CT.

Involvement of protective enzymes and phenols in decay (Penicillium expansum) resistance in apple

open access: yesJournal of Crop Protection, 2016
Blue mold disease caused by Penicillium expansum is a major post-harvest disease of apples. In this research, the biochemical basis of apple resistance to this pathogen was studied in two relatively resistant and susceptible cultivars, Granny smith and ...

Spatial Distribution of Minerals and Selected Bioactive Compounds in White Mold-Ripened and Blue-Veined Cheeses

open access: yesMolecules
In this study, the contents of minerals, free amino acids (FAAs), biogenic amines (BAs), γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and spermidine (SPD) were analyzed in selected white mold-ripened and blue-veined cheeses, including their spatial distribution between ...
