Investigation Towards the Asymmetric CBS‐Catalysed Reduction of Aryl Methyl Ketones with Electrochemically in Situ Generated BH3

open access: yesChemElectroChem
The aim of this investigation was to explore the possibility to perform an asymmetric reduction, utilising a CBS‐type catalyst, of prochiral aryl methyl ketones under electrochemical conditions to generate the needed BH3 upon oxidation of NaBH4 with in ...

Fluorescent nanodiamonds for FRET-based monitoring of a single biological nanomotor FoF1-ATP synthase

open access: yes, 2009
Color centers in diamond nanocrystals are a new class of fluorescence markers that attract significant interest due to matchless brightness, photostability and biochemical inertness.

Dual‐Functional Sulfonated Nanocellulose for Proton Exchange Membranes With High Proton Conductivity at Low Humidity

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A scalable dual‐functional strategy yields simultaneously sulfonated and nanosized cellulose for proton exchange membranes with continuous hydrogen‐bond networks. These sustainable membranes exhibit low‐humidity proton conductivity twofold higher than Nafion 212, providing a robust solution for next‐generation fuel cells.

Homogeneous CO Hydrogenation: Dihydrogen Activation Involves a Frustrated Lewis Pair Instead of a Platinum Complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
During a search for conditions appropriate for Pt-catalyzed CO reduction using dihydrogen directly, metal-free conditions were discovered instead.

Breaking the Temperature Barrier: Ultra‐Stable SiHfBCN Ceramic Coatings for High‐Temperature Pressure Sensing

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A 3D conductive net including HfC(N) conductive nanodomains and in‐situ carbon ribbons was generated within the amorphous SiHfBCN matrix by a new molecular‐level composition and microstructure design strategy, making a smooth and dense polymer‐derived SiHfBCN ceramic coatings exhibits excellent electrical conductivity, wide‐temperature sensing, cycling

First-principles study on the intermediate compounds of LiBH$_4$

open access: yes, 2006
We report the results of the first-principles calculation on the intermediate compounds of LiBH$_4$. The stability of LiB$_3$H$_8$ and Li$_2$B$_n$H$_n (n=5-12)$ has been examined with the ultrasoft pseudopotential method based on the density functional ...

Gold(I) Phosphine/Phosphido‐Borohydride Complexes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Synthesis, structure, and electrochemical characteristics of a homologous series of gold(I) complexes featuring phosphine and phosphido–borohydride ligands. A homologous series of linear, mononuclear gold(I) phosphine/phosphido‐borohydride complexes, encompassing [Au(PR3)2]+ 1, [Au(PR3)(PR2BH3)] 2 and [Au(PR2BH3)2]– 3 (R = tBu, Ad), has been prepared ...

Transfer Hydrogenation of Organic Azides to Amines by Ammonia Borane Complex Under Mild Conditions Catalyzed by Reusable Au Nanoparticles

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Organic azides are readily reduced to amines under mild conditions by ammonia borane complex, catalyzed by a low loading level of reusable Au nanoparticles supported on TiO2. We present the first protocol for the chemoselective reduction of organic azides to amines by ammonia borane complex. In the presence of a low catalytic amount of Au nanoparticles

EDA Complex–Mediated C(sp3)–H Cross‐Dehydrogenative Coupling Enables Synthesis of Noncanonical α,β‐Diamino Acids

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Access to nonproteinogenic α,β‐diamino acids from simple feedstock precursors is of great interest to generate medicinal small molecule libraries. We report a regioselective photoinduced C(sp3)–C(sp3) cross‐dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) of N‐arylglycine derivatives with amides.

Chan–Lam Cross‐Coupling With Alkylboron Reagents: From Transmetallation to Radical Pathways

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Alkylative Chan–Lam coupling overcomes intrinsic transmetallation limitations of alkylboron reagents by engaging radical pathways. Recent advances reveal how radical and radical–polar crossover mechanisms enable mild C(sp3)—heteroatom bond formation. This minireview highlights key mechanistic insights and emerging strategies that transform alkylboron ...
