Bradykinin receptors and their antagonists
European Journal of Pharmacology, 1998Bradykinin and related kinins act on two receptor types, named B1 and B2. Initially identified in classical bioassays, these receptors have been cloned and characterized in binding assays performed on plasma membranes of cells expressing the native or the transfected human kinin B1 or B2 receptor types.

Receptors | Bradykinin Receptors
Kinins, such as bradykinin and kallidin, are peptides generated from kininogen precursor proteins by the action of kallikreins. Plasma and tissue kallikrein are responsible for their synthesis in blood and tissues, respectively.

Activation of B2 bradykinin receptors by neurotensin
Many previous reports suggested that relatively high concentrations of neurotensin were required to exert its effects on neurotransmitter secretion. The neurotensin binding sites, which recognize high concentrations of neurotensin, were characterized in rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells. When PC12 cells were treated with neurotensin, [3H]norepinephrine

Bradykinin receptors in isolated rat duodenum
Pharmacological properties of the bradykinin receptors in the isolated rat duodenum were investigated by examining the relaxant and contractile responses to bradykinin and [des-Arg9]-bradykinin, an agonist of B1 receptors. A specific desensitization and de novo formation for B1 receptors were observed.

Receptors for bradykinin and kallidin
Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1979In order to establish if bradykinin (BK) and Lys-bradykinin (Lys-BK), alias kallidin, act on the same or on different receptors, experiments were performed on strips of cat terminal ileum and of rabbit aorta. The first preparation contains receptor B2 and the second has the newly identified receptor B1The criterion used for establishing the identity ...

Bradykinin receptor antagonists
Medicinal Research Reviews, 1990Bradykinin and its active metabolites are produced at the sites of their actions by kallikreins. They potently elicit a variety of biological effects: hypotension, bronchoconstriction, gut and uterine contraction, epithelial secretion in airway, gut, and exocrine glands, vascular permeability, pain, connective tissue proliferation, and eicosanoid ...

General Pharmacology: The Vascular System, 1997
1. The last decade has witnessed a phenomenal increase in our understanding of the pharmacology of bradykinin receptors, and has led to an appreciation of a key role for the peptide kinins as proinflammatory mediators. This short review summarises the major changes that have taken place in the expanding area of bradykinin receptor pharmacology, and ...
