Facile synthesis of functionalized spiro[indoline-3,2'-oxiran]-2-ones by Darzens reaction

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
A series of functionalized spiro[indoline-3,2'-oxiran]-2-ones was efficiently synthesized by Darzens reaction of phenacyl bromides with isatins both with N-alkyl groups and without N-substituent in the presence of potassium carbonate as a base catalyst ...

Electrogenerated N-Heterocyclic Carbene in Ionic Liquid: An Insight into the Mechanism of the Oxidative Esterification of Aromatic Aldehydes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
An N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC), generated by cathodic reduction of BMImBF4, mediates the oxidative esterification of aromatic aldehydes with organic bromides in the corresponding ionic liquid as solvent. The product recovery by simple extractive work-up

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Photocatalyic Appel reaction enabled by copper-based complexes in continuous flow

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2018
A copper-based photocatalyst, Cu(tmp)(BINAP)BF4, was found to be active in a photoredox Appel-type conversion of alcohols to bromides. The catalyst was identified from a screening of 50 complexes and promoted the transformation of primary and secondary ...

Copper/N,N-Dimethylglycine Catalyzed Goldberg Reactions Between Aryl Bromides and Amides, Aryl Iodides and Secondary Acyclic Amides

open access: yesMolecules, 2014
An efficient and general copper-catalyzed Goldberg reaction at 90–110 °C between aryl bromides and amides providing the desired products in good to excellent yields has been developed using N,N-dimethylglycine as the ligand.

Regioselective Ni-Catalyzed reductive alkylsilylation of acrylonitrile with unactivated alkyl bromides and chlorosilanes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Synthetic methodologies that enable the formation of C‒Si bonds in organic molecules are desirable. Here, the authors report the nickel-catalyzed reductive alkylsilylation of acrylonitrile with unactivated alkyl bromides and chlorosilanes.

Ultrasonic and Densitometric Characterization of Hyaluronan and its Interaction with Surfactant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This disertation thesis is focused on the study of physico-chemical interactions of hyaluronan (with molecular weights from 10 to 1750 kDa) with cationic surfactants measured using uncommon technique named high resolution ultrasonic spectroscopy ...

2,6-Dimethylpyridinium bromide [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2012
The asymmetric unit of the title salt, C(7)H(10)N(+)·Br(-), comprises two 2,6-dimethyl-pyridinium cations and two bromide anions. One cation and one anion are situated in general positions, while the other cation and the other anion lie on a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to (010).

PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.
