ASC-1, PAT2, and P2RX5 are cell surface markers for white, beige, and brown adipocytes. [PDF]
White, beige, and brown adipocytes are developmentally and functionally distinct but often occur mixed together within individual depots. To target white, beige, and brown adipocytes for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, a better understanding of the ...

Kaempferol modulates the tryptophan metabolism pathway by increasing the abundances of Christensenellaceae R7 group, Bacteroides, and Blautia and reducing that of Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group, thereby significantly increasing the levels of ILA and IAA. This process inhibits the activation of NF‐κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway, reduces pro‐inflammatory factor

The immunological landscape of the area postrema in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders
Aquaporin‐4 antibody‐positive neuromyelitis spectrum disorder is characterized by large tissue destructive lesions in medulla, spinal cord, and optic nerves, with only partial recovery from clinical symptoms, and by lesions with very little tissue destruction and mostly complete recovery from clinical symptoms, as seen in the area postrema ...

Is there a role for cannabidiol in obesity, metabolic syndrome and binge eating?
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most abundant phytocannabinoids isolated from the Cannabis sativa plant. CBD is a lipophilic, non‐intoxicating substance that differently from Δ9‐tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9‐THC) does not present the typical profile of a drug of abuse.

The potential for biased signalling in the P2Y receptor family of GPCRs
The purinergic receptor family is primarily activated by nucleotides, and contains members of both the G protein coupled‐receptor (GPCR) superfamily (P1 and P2Y) and ligand‐gated ion channels (P2X). The P2Y receptors are widely expressed in the human body, and given the ubiquitous nature of nucleotides, purinergic signalling is involved with a plethora

Brown adipocytes from induced pluripotent stem cells-how far have we come? [PDF]
A global increase in the number of individuals who are either overweight or obese is leading to a higher incidence of type 2 diabetes (T2D). Behavioral interventions for the treatment of obesity have yet to deliver desired outcomes, thus introducing a ...

NR2F6 is essential for brown adipocyte differentiation and systemic metabolic homeostasis
Objective: Brown adipose tissue (BAT) development and function are essential for maintaining energy balance. However, the key factors that specifically regulate brown adipogenesis require further identification.

PDE4D and PDE3B orchestrate distinct cAMP microdomains in 3T3‐L1 adipocytes
Basal conditions: •Ins/PDE3B lowers cytoplasmic cAMP (cyt‐cAMP) without affecting plasma membrane cAMP (pm‐cAMP). •Insulin decreases lipid droplet cAMP (LD‐cAMP) independent of PDE3B. •FGF1/PDE4D modestly reduces both cyt‐ and pm‐cAMP, while PDE4D alone can modulate LD‐cAMP. ISO stimulation: •Ins/PDE3B has minimal impact on cyt‐cAMP.

Ultrastructure of brown adipocytes mitochondria in cell culture from explants [PDF]
Brown adipocytes lose in culture their typical mitochondria, which are replaced by others of non typical morphology. During studies aimed at clarifying this phenomenon we found that better preservation of the 'typical' mitochondrial morphology is ...

Impact of incretin analogues on lipid and lipoprotein metabolism in obesity and diabetes
Abstract Incretin‐based therapies have gained momentum as a key strategy for reducing cardiovascular risk in individuals with obesity and/or type 2 diabetes (T2D). It remains unclear whether the cardiovascular benefits reflect a direct reduction in atherogenic lipoproteins—namely, low‐density lipoproteins (LDL), very low‐density lipoproteins (VLDL) and
