Cold Exposure Induces Proliferation of Mature Brown Adipocyte in a ß3-Adrenergic Receptor-Mediated Pathway. [PDF]
Hyperplasia of brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a fundamental mechanism for adaptation to survive in the cold environment in rodents. To determine which cell types comprising BAT contribute to tissue hyperplasia, immunohistochemical analysis using a ...

Diet-Induced Adipocyte Browning
The adipocyte browning process is a phenomenon that consists in the molecular and morphological remodeling of preadipocytes or mature white adipocytes into multilocular beige fat cells expressing thermogenesis-associated genes. Adipocyte browning may occur physiologically, mainly upon cold or exercise stimulation.

Adipocyte‐Derived Leptolin Enhances Energy Expenditure and Prevents Obesity
We identified a novel adipokine, which we named leptolin. In humans, leptolin levels in white adipose tissue were positively correlated with exercise and negatively associated with body mass index. We observed elevated leptolin in serum from athletes and lower leptolin in serum from obese individuals.

Genetic and Functional Characterization of Novel Brown-Like Adipocytes Around the Lamprey Brain
During the process of vertebrate evolution, many thermogenic organs and mechanisms have appeared. Mammalian brown adipose tissue (BAT) generates heat through the uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation of mitochondria, acts as a natural defense against ...

ABSTRACT Brown and beige adipocytes dissipate energy as heat, yet effective strategies to enhance their mitochondrial efficiency remain limited. Here, we identify Agnuside (AGN) as a selective stabilizer of the complex I assembly factor NDUFAF6. AGN directly binds cytosolic NDUFAF6, suppresses its ubiquitination, prolongs its half‐life, and facilitates

Artepillin C, a Typical Brazilian Propolis-Derived Component, Induces Brown-Like Adipocyte Formation in C3H10T1/2 Cells, Primary Inguinal White Adipose Tissue-Derived Adipocytes, and Mice. [PDF]
Induction of brown-like adipocytes (beige/brite cells) in white adipose tissue (WAT) suggests a new approach for preventing and treating obesity via induction of thermogenesis associated with uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1).

PHOSPHO1 puts the breaks on thermogenesis in brown adipocytes [PDF]
The nonshivering heat production in mitochondria-rich brown or beige adipocytes allows rodents and humans to adapt to cold stress (1). The best-characterized thermogenic effector is uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1), which dissipates energy as heat by proton transport across the mitochondrial inner membrane. Of note, there are also important UCP1-independent

A graphene oxide/collagen scaffold is developed for chronic massive rotator cuff tear repair. The scaffold improves compressive stability, supports reparative mesenchymal differentiation, and modulates the immune microenvironment. In chronic MRCT models, it reduces muscle degeneration, enhances tendon–bone regeneration, and improves functional recovery,

Brown adipocytes postnatally arise through both differentiation from progenitors and conversion from white adipocytes in Syrian hamster [PDF]
To investigate the postnatal development of brown adipose tissue (BAT) in Syrian hamsters, we histologically examined interscapular fat tissue from 5–16-day-old pups, focusing on how brown adipocytes arise.

Lipid Droplets in Brown Adipose Tissue Are Dispensable for Cold-Induced Thermogenesis
Summary: Brown adipocytes store metabolic energy as triglycerides (TGs) in lipid droplets (LDs). Fatty acids released from brown adipocyte LDs by lipolysis are thought to activate and fuel UCP1-mediated thermogenesis.
