Metformin targets brown adipose tissue in vivo and reduces oxygen consumption in vitro
To test the hypothesis that brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a metformin target tissue by investigating in vivo uptake of [11C]‐metformin tracer in mice and studying in vitro effects of metformin on cultured human brown adipocytes.

In islet β cells, LGR4 binds with Rspondin to activate the Wnt‐β‐catenin‐Ccnd1 axis, leading to a subsequent increase in cell proliferation. On the other hand, LGR4 also binds with RANKL, thus suppressing the phosphorylation of p44/p42 MAPK and p65 NF‐κB and subsequent cell apoptosis.

Obesity is associated with severe metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease and some forms of cancer. The pathophysiology of obesity-induced metabolic diseases has been strongly related to white adipose tissue

The ANGPTL8/PIRB/ALOX5AP axis mediates liver‐kidney crosstalk. Hepatocytes secrete ANGPTL8, which binds to CCR2+PIRB+ macrophages in the kidneys, affecting the expression of ALOX5AP and enhancing the activation of these macrophages. Activated cells produce TGF‐β, IL‐6, and IL‐23, driving Th17 activation and promote the formation of myofibroblasts ...

Histone Deacetylase 3 Prepares Brown Adipose Tissue For Acute Thermogenic Challenge
Brown adipose tissue is a thermogenic organ that dissipates chemical energy as heat to protect animals against hypothermia and to counteract metabolic disease.

Brown adipose tissue thermogenesis in humans [PDF]
The prevalence of obesity and type 2 diabetes is at epidemic proportions. Classical interventions aimed at targeting obesity, such as reducing energy intake or increasing exercise, are often not effective over the long term. In contrast to white adipocytes, which store energy, brown adipocytes generate heat via mitochondrial uncoupling protein 1 ...

This study identifies that REGγ is elevated in obese adipose tissue. REGγ modulates WAT browning via ubiquitin‐independent ACADM/KLF15–UCP1 degradation. Overactivation of the NRF2–REGγ axis facilitates adipose tissue function to cause obesity. Inhibition of REGγ in the iWAT alleviates HFD‐induced obesity.

Integrative Omics Reveal Female‐Specific Benefits of p16+ Cell Clearance in Aging Mice
Aging causes accumulation of p16⁺ senescent cells that promote inflammation and dysfunction. Multi‐omics analyses reveal striking sex differences in senescent cell burden and clearance: females accumulate more p16⁺ cells, especially in the liver, and their removal rejuvenates molecular and functional profiles.

Case report: brown fat accumulation of Tc-99m macroaggregated albumin in a lung perfusion study in a patient with multiple lung arteriovenous malformations and right-to-left shunting [PDF]
An 18-year-old man was preoperatively assessed for a varicocele and found to be hypoxemic. A Tc-99m macroaggregated albumin lung perfusion scan showed right-to-left shunting, evidenced by increased radiotracer uptake in the brain, kidneys, thyroid gland,
