Combating ageing beyond the cell: Emerging roles of extracellular proteostasis

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Ageing challenges the body's ability to maintain a stable and functional proteome, leading to protein damage and aggregation both inside and outside cells. This review focuses on the less well understood mechanisms of extracellular protein quality control and how they become disrupted in ageing, particularly in neurodegenerative diseases.

Tankyrase‐2 regulates adipocyte differentiation through AMPK/mTOR signaling

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Tankyrase 2 (TNKS2), a PARP family member, underpins adipocyte differentiation. TNKS2 controls LKB1 protein level, and consequently, the activity of the mTOR/AMPK system and adipocyte differentiation through a layered process. Pharmacological inhibition of TNKS2 leaves other PARPs and DNA repair active and therefore represents a novel target in ...

Do Habitat Restoration Efforts and the Associated Releases of Hatchery‐Reared Fish Affect the Genetic Diversity and Integrity of Native Brown Trout Populations?

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Habitat restoration may protect brown trout (Salmo trutta) populations from loss of genetic diversity by increasing environmental carrying capacity and, consequently, population size. However, the accompanying release of hatchery‐reared fish may threaten the genetic integrity of native populations through introgression.

Dolutegravir population pharmacokinetics in racially, sex‐ and age‐diverse and antiretroviral therapy‐experienced adults with HIV in the United States

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Dolutegravir (DTG) has been associated with weight gain in women with HIV, Black people with HIV and people with HIV60 years. This study aimed to characterise DTG population pharmacokinetics (PopPK) in a diverse population including these sub‐populations.

Associations of finerenone with reduced insulin resistance in patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease: A real‐world observational study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
This real‐world observational study enrolled 256 patients with type 2 diabetes and chronic kidney disease (T2D‐CKD). After 12 months of finerenone treatment, 45 patients completed follow‐up. Finerenone was associated with significant improvements in insulin resistance markers (HOMA‐IR, TyG index), lipid profile (LDL‐C), glycemic control (HbA1c), and ...

Association of BCAAs/BCKAs with pancreatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims To examine the association between branched‐chain α‐keto acids (BCKAs) and pancreatic steatosis in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods This cross‐sectional study was conducted from January 2023 to March 2025. Upper abdominal computerized tomography was performed, pancreatic volume (PV), PV index (PVI), CT attenuation of pancreas
