First Report of Ophiostoma clavatum and Fusarium verticillioides Associated With Ips acuminatus‐Infested Scots Pine in Western Ukraine

open access: yesPlant-Environment Interactions, Volume 7, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study provides the first record of Ophiostoma clavatum associated with Ips acuminatus in Ukraine, and the first evidence of Fusarium verticillioides coexisting with ophiostomatoid fungi in infested Scots pines. This fungal association may contribute to the decline of Scots pine stands.

Adverse effects of grapevine trunk diseases on canes produced from infected rootstock mother blocks

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 2973-2988, April 2026.
High incidences of GTD pathogens in rootstock mother vine heads, with Phaeomoniella chlamydospora and Diplodia seriata affecting cane physiology and quality. One‐year‐old canes harbor systemic inoculum, highlighting the need for careful monitoring and management.

Potential of bacteria isolated from chitin‐enriched soil against Euschistus heros (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 4, Page 3552-3561, April 2026.
B. thuringiensis and B. altitudinis, isolated from chitin‐enriched soil, causing mortality in Euchistus heros under laboratory conditions. First report of B. altitudinis in the control of E. heros. Abstract BACKGROUND Biological control using entomopathogenic microorganisms is a more sustainable alternative to chemical pesticides for managing insect ...

Effect of fertilizer nitrogen on biomass yield and nitrous oxide gas emissions in peppermint in Nebraska

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a perennial herb valued for its menthol‐rich oil and requires high nitrogen (N) inputs for its irrigated production. Optimizing N management can reduce nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions, a potent greenhouse gas associated with fertilizer N input.

Expression of pathogenesis-related proteins in potato brown rot plants confers resistance to filamentous pathogens under field trials

open access: yesScientific Reports
The present investigation aims to use innovative metagenomics technologies and denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) to compare the microbial communities of conductive and suppressive soils in connection to brown rot disease in the entire value ...

Antagonistic effect of rhizospheric bacteria against white rot (Sclerotium cepivorum) of garlic (Allium sativum L.) under in vitro and in vivo conditions

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 9, Issue 1, March 2026.
Abstract Garlic (Allium sativum), a vegetable crop used for food, medicine, and condiments, is affected by white rot (Sclerotium cepivorum). Garlic yield reduction is influenced by several factors, with biotic stresses, particularly fungal pathogens, being among the most significant.

Diversification with minor oilseeds: Effects on system productivity and nitrogen use efficiency in semi‐arid Canadian prairies

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Abstract Diversified cropping systems in the semi‐arid Canadian prairies comprise major cereal, oilseed, and pulse crops. Further diversification with minor oilseeds, such as oriental (Brassica juncea), industrial (Brassica carinata L.), and yellow (Sinapis alba L.) mustard, camelina [Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz], and flax (Linum usitatissimum L ...

Isolation and Identification of Brown Rot Pathogenic Fungi in Gastrodia elata and Its Inhibitory Effect by Citral

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To elucidate the types of Gastrodia elata (G. elata) brown rot pathogenic fungi and the inhibitory effect of citral on them. Tissue isolation method, pathogenicity test, morphological observation and rDNA-ITS sequence analysis were employed to isolate ...

Tandem genomic selection with independent culling to improve sorghum hybrid adaptation to the eastern United States

open access: yesCrop Science, Volume 66, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Abstract Objectively selecting genotypes using genomic predictions for multiple traits warrants more empirical research. This study investigated how deployment of genomic prediction within the Clemson sorghum [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench] breeding program would help to develop hybrids adapted to the eastern United States.
