Mechanical Mouse Lure for Brown Treesnakes

open access: yesCopeia, 2000
Abstract The importance of prey movement for stimulating feeding behavior of Brown Treesnakes was tested by using a mechanical mouse model in combination with and without prey odor. Prey movement was found to be important in stimulating brown treesnake feeding behavior.

Effects of Different Varieties on Physicochemical Properties, Browning Characteristics, and Quality Attributes of Mume fructus (Wumei)

open access: yesFoods
The dried Mume fructus (MF) is a special food and herbal medicine with a long history of processing and application. The browning index (BI) of Prunus mume (PM) is pivotal in determining the medicinal value and edible quality of MF.

Comparative Transcriptomic Analyses Provide Insights into the Enzymatic Browning Mechanism of Fresh-Cut Sand Pear Fruit

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2021
Pear (Pyrus spp.) is one of the most commonly consumed temperate fruits, having considerable economic and health importance. Fresh-cut or processed pear fruits are prone to browning because of the abundant phenolic compounds; however, little is known ...

Solar-type dynamo behaviour in fully convective stars without a tachocline [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In solar-type stars (with radiative cores and convective envelopes), the magnetic field powers star spots, flares and other solar phenomena, as well as chromospheric and coronal emission at ultraviolet to X-ray wavelengths.

Study on the Regulation Mechanism of 1-MCP Combined with SO2 Treatment on Postharvest Senescence of Bamboo Shoots (Chimonobambusa quadrangularis) in Karst Mountain Area

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Fresh bamboo shoots (Chimonobambusa quadrangularis) are subjected to senescence (e.g., lignification and browning) during postharvest storage. This study investigated the effects of 1-MCP and SO2 treatment on bamboo shoot senescence and its regulation ...

Asteroseismology and spectropolarimetry: opening new windows on the internal dynamics of massive stars

open access: yes, 2014
In this article, we show how asteroseismology and spectropolarimetry allow to probe dynamical processes in massive star interiors. First, we give a summary of the state-of-the-art.

Transcription Factor E2F1 Knockout Promotes Mice White Adipose Tissue Browning Through Autophagy Inhibition

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2021
Obesity is associated with energy metabolic disturbance and is caused by long-term excessive energy storage in white adipose tissue (WAT). The WAT browning potentially reduces excessive energy accumulation, contributing an attractive target to combat ...

The Flare-energy Distributions Generated by Kink-unstable Ensembles of Zero-net-current Coronal Loops

open access: yes, 2011
It has been proposed that the million degree temperature of the corona is due to the combined effect of barely-detectable energy releases, so called nanoflares, that occur throughout the solar atmosphere.

A New Role for Browning as a Redox and Stress Adaptive Mechanism? [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2015
The worldwide epidemic of obesity and metabolic disorders is focusing the attention of the scientific community on white adipose tissue (WAT) and its biology. This tissue is characterized not only by its capability to change in size and shape but also by its heterogeneity and versatility.
