ABSTRACT Objective Cognitive decline is a disabling and variable feature of Parkinson disease (PD). While cholinergic system degeneration is linked to cognitive impairments in PD, most prior research reported cross‐sectional associations. We aimed to fill this gap by investigating whether baseline regional cerebral vesicular acetylcholine transporter ...

Studies on Browning Mechanism of Tomato Products
An investigation was carried out on the factors affecting on the browning of tomato serum which is possibly caused by the reaction between amino acids and sugars as well as the oxidation of ascorbic acid.Browning velocity was raised at higher temperature in the absence of oxygen, and in the presence of oxygen by 3 times at 100°C and 11 times at 40°C in

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Recurrent Hypothermia and Autonomic Dysfunction Secondary to Shapiro Syndrome
ABSTRACT A 44‐year‐old man presented with recurrent hypothermia, diaphoresis and hypertension. Extensive investigation for infectious, inflammatory, metabolic and endocrine aetiologies was negative. MR scan of the brain demonstrated no lesions but revealed callosal dysgenesis, consistent with Shapiro syndrome.

The Sum of All Browning in FGF21 Therapeutics
FGF21 mimetics are a promising therapeutic tool, believed to exert their anti-obesity effect partly through browning of white fat. Véniant et al. (2015) and Samms et al. (2015) present evidence arguing against fat browning as the primary mechanism causal

ABSTRACT Background Ischemic stroke, a major cause of mortality and long‐term disability, results from the abrupt cessation of cerebral blood flow due to vascular occlusion or rupture. Icosapent Ethyl (EPA‐EE), approved for hypertriglyceridemia, has anti‐inflammatory and antithrombotic properties that may lessen ischemic damage.

Postharvest pericarp browning of lychee (litchi chinensis sonn.) fruit
Lychee (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) is a non climacteric subtropical fruit indigenous to Southern China. Once harvested the brilliant red pericarp colour deteriorates rapidly, with the pericarp appearing brown within 24 to 48 hours after harvest.

Rheumatologic Manifestations of Patients With Type B Insulin Resistance
Objective The objectives of this study were to identify laboratory and clinical features associated with type B insulin resistance (TBIR), a rare condition caused by autoantibodies that inhibit the insulin receptor, most frequently occurring in the setting of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and to increase awareness of this rare, life‐threatening ...
