A pilot study of antimicrobial effects and ototoxicity of a Norway spruce (Picea abies) resin‐based canine otic rinse product

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 325-336, June 2024.
Background – Norway spruce (Picea abies) resin‐based products are used in human medicine. A resin‐based otic rinse also could be useful in supportive care of canine otitis externa (COE), yet information on its antimicrobial effect against canine pathogens or ototoxicity is lacking.

Functional traits of fossil plants

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 242, Issue 2, Page 392-423, April 2024.
Summary A minuscule fraction of the Earth's paleobiological diversity is preserved in the geological record as fossils. What plant remnants have withstood taphonomic filtering, fragmentation, and alteration in their journey to become part of the fossil record provide unique information on how plants functioned in paleo‐ecosystems through their traits ...

Molecular and functional anticancer effects of GLP/G9a inhibition by UNC0646 in MeWo melanoma cells

open access: yesHeliyon
In recent years, histone methyltransferases (HMTs) have emerged as important therapeutic targets in cancer due to their oncogenic role. Herein, we used the GLP/G9a inhibitor UNC0646 to assess whether the inhibition of such HMTs could induce cell death in

Rare CACNA1H and RELN variants interact through mTORC1 pathway in oligogenic autism spectrum disorder

open access: yesTranslational Psychiatry, 2022
Oligogenic inheritance of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been supported by several studies. However, little is known about how the risk variants interact and converge on causative neurobiological pathways.

IFNγ protects motor neurons from oxidative stress via enhanced global protein synthesis in FUS‐associated amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesBrain Pathology, Volume 34, Issue 1, January 2024.
FUS R521H motor neurons derived from IPSCs exhibit reduced viability, decreased protein synthesis, and diminished cytokine production when exposed to oxidative stress. Treatment with IFNy improves translation rates and mitigates apoptosis caused by oxidative injury.

Differential methylation is associated with non-syndromic cleft lip and palate and contributes to penetrance effects

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Non-syndromic cleft lip and/or palate (NSCLP) is a common congenital malformation with a multifactorial model of inheritance. Although several at-risk alleles have been identified, they do not completely explain the high heritability.

Bone Marrow Associated with Bone Xenograft in Bone Guided Regeneration in Rabbits Calvaria [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014

Ibrutinib Modulates Proliferation, Migration, Mitochondrial Homeostasis, and Apoptosis in Melanoma Cells

open access: yesBiomedicines
Ibrutinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor with a broad spectrum of action, has been successfully explored to treat hematological and solid cancers. Herein, we investigated the anti-cancer effect of Ibrutinib on melanoma cell lines.
