PDMS residues-free micro/macrostructures on flexible substrates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Transfer printing has been reported recently as a viable route for electronics on flexible substrates. The method involves transferring micro-/macrostructures such as wires or ultra-thin chips from Si (silicon) wafers to the flexible substrates by using ...

A Surface‐engineered Microfluidic Device for Antibody‐Mediated Negative Selection of High‐Quality Sperm for Assisted Reproduction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a microfluidic device with a functionalized surface utilizing a polyoxazoline coating and covalently immobilized gold nanoparticles and anti‐phosphatidylserine antibody. The device efficiently eliminates pre‐apoptotic and apoptotic spermatozoa and yields sperm with substantially improved quality and low DNA damage, offering a simple ...

Cell surface expression and function of the macromolecular C1 complex on the surface of human monocytes

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2012
The synthesis of the subunits of the C1 complex (C1q, C1s, C1r), and its regulator C1 inhibitor (C1-Inh) by human monocytes has been previously established. However, surface expression of these molecules by monocytes has not been shown.

Unitary and analytic model of nucleon EM structure, the puzzle with JLab proton polarization data and new insight into proton charge distribution

open access: yes, 2005
The Unitary and analytic model of nucleon electromagnetic structure, describing all existing nucleon form factor data, is briefly reviewed. Then in the framework of this model the problem of inconsistency of older proton electric form factor data in ...

The expression and biological role of complement C1s in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesOpen Life Sciences
The present work focused on investigating the role of the altered expression of complement C1s in proliferation and apoptosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) cells and explore its biological functions in ESCC, so as to lay a theoretical ...

Fabrication of Pyridinic Nitrogen‐Functionalized Carbon Cloth for High‐Performance Iron‐Chromium Flow Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The carbon cloth electrode with targeted pyridinic nitrogen doping, achieved via urea pyrolysis, effectively modulates the adsorption of Cr(II) species and enhances electron transfer, leading to significantly improved kinetics of the Cr(II)/Cr(III) reaction. The material demonstrates a high discharge capacity of 689.3 mAh and an energy efficiency of 72.

The role of the Lys628 (192) residue of the complement protease, C1s, in interacting with peptide and protein substrates

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2014
The C1s protease of the classical complement pathway propagates the initial activation of this pathway of the system by cleaving and thereby activating the C4 and C2 complement components.
