AN ELECTRIC CABLE DRIVEN BONE INSTRUMENT

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1925
Without doubt, many surgeons have long desired an electric cable driven tool holder that would be as nearly fool proof as the dental engine or the portable electric drill of the mechanic. Existing devices are for the most part rather complicated, and therefore expensive as to initial outlay and upkeep.

Performance Analysis of Cable-Driven Wrench Applicators

Cable-driven wrench applicators are widely used in robotics due to their lightweight design, large workspace, and ability to exert wrenches. Usually, a subset of wrench components needs to be precisely controlled depending on the application at hand, whereas the other wrench components need to be managed according to some criteria.

Interference Determination for Parallel Cable-Driven Robots

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
This paper develops an approach to overcome the misjudgment and omission problems of determining interference for parallel cable-driven robots, which is essential to clear interference classification in the first place. According to the clear classification, interference condition between a cable and a cable or a cable and an edge of the end-effector ...

Tension analysis of cable-driven parallel mechanisms

2005 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2005
A cable-driven parallel mechanism (CDPM) possesses a number of promising advantages over the conventional rigid-link mechanisms, such as simple and light-weight mechanical structure, high-loading capacity, and large workspace. However, the formulations and results obtained for the rigid-link mechanisms cannot be directly applied to CDPMs due to the ...

A Hybrid Self-Stressed Cable-Driven Mechanism

Volume 2: 32nd Mechanisms and Robotics Conference, Parts A and B, 2008
A new hybrid cable-driven manipulator is introduced. The manipulator is composed of a Cartesian mechanism to provide three translational degrees of freedom and a cable system to drive the mechanism. The end-effector is driven by three rotational motors through the cables.

Cable-driven inchworm-inspired soft crawling robot

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science
A cable-driven soft crawling robot inspired by inchworm locomotion, utilising three motors to achieve an ‘Ω’ crawling motion, is proposed. Finite element analysis and quasi-static cable-driven tests were conducted to examine the deformations of the robot’s flexible body and optimise its structural components.
