Differentiation of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli Using Multiplex-PCR and High Resolution Melt Curve Analysis. [PDF]
Campylobacter spp. are important causes of bacterial gastroenteritis in humans in developed countries. Among Campylobacter spp. Campylobacter jejuni (C. jejuni) and C. coli are the most common causes of human infection.

Biotyping of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli infections in Spain [PDF]
Biochemical profiles were studied in 102 Campylobacter isolates from patients affected by enteric disease in Orense (Spain) over a 1-year period. The isolates were identified as hippurate-positive Campylobacter jejuni (n = 90), Campylobacter coli (n = 10) and hippurate-negative C. jejuni (n = 2).

Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli
Definition of the disease: Campylobacter jejuni and C. coli can colonise the intestinal tract ofmost mammals and birds and are the most frequently isolated Campylobacter species in humanswith gastro-enteritis. Transmission from animals to humans is mainly through consumption andhandling of animal food products but also direct contact with colonised ...

Characterization of erythromycin resistance in Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli [PDF]
The mechanism of resistance to erythromycin, the drug of choice in the treatment of campylobacter gastroenteritis, was investigated. Erythromycin resistance (MICs, greater than 1,024 micrograms/ml) in three clinical isolates of Campylobacter jejuni and one C. coli isolate was determined to be constitutive and chromosomally mediated.

Peroxy acetic acid (PAA) is widely used as an antimicrobial in poultry processing, specifically in the chiller. While the natural pH of PAA at the concentrations used is between 4.5 and 6.0, poultry processors adjust the pH to ≥8.0 to maintain product ...

The Evolution ofCampylobacter jejuniandCampylobacter coli [PDF]
The global significance of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli as gastrointestinal human pathogens has motivated numerous studies to characterize their population biology and evolution. These bacteria are a common component of the intestinal microbiota of numerous bird and mammal species and cause disease in humans, typically via consumption of

Antibacterial activities of nitrothiazole against Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli [PDF]
Niridazole (Ambilhar) and three other newly synthesized nitrothiazole derivatives were highly active against 19 microaerophilic campylobacters (minimum concentration required to inhibit 50% of strains [MIC50], 0.0075 to 0.015 mg/liter). There were, however, considerable differences in the susceptibility among strains tested, and one nitrothiazole ...

A Genomic Catalog of Migratory Microbiomes from Wild Birds across China's Habitats
ABSTRACT Migratory birds play an important role in the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR); however, gaps in surveillance data from vital regions along migratory flyways across China limit the detection of emergent threats. Here, we assembled 340 metagenomes from 52 bird species covering 11 provincial administrative districts in China, presenting ...
