Modeling of water rising in hydraulically coupled cylindrical capillaries of different radii

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Research, 2018
Introduction. Vertical upward flow of water in the plant xylem occurs under the action of the water surface tension in the capillary menisci. In some papers, it is shown that the distribution of water in the inclined capillary systems is subject to the ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

VEGF-A isoforms induce the expression of APLN in endothelial cells during human prenatal lung development

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
IntroductionSingle-cell RNA-sequencing analyses have revealed the existence of two distinct capillary cell populations in the human lung: general capillary cells (CAP1) and alveolar capillary cells (CAP2). Studies in mouse have shown that the splicing of

Evidence of acute inflammation in the periodontal ligament subsequent to orthodontic tooth movement in rats

open access: yesAustralasian Orthodontic Journal, 1989
Experimental orthodontic tooth extrusion can result in red cell diapedesis through the PDL vascular wall. Diapedesis is an early sign of acute inflammation.

Curcumin reduces blood-nerve barrier abnormalities and cytotoxicity to endothelial cells and pericytes induced by cisplatin

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2023
BACKGROUND: Cisplatin is a platinum-based antineoplastic agent used to treat cancers of solid organs. Neuropathy is one of its major side effects, necessitating dose reduction or cessation.

Capillary Rogue Waves [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2010
We report the first observation of extreme wave events (rogue waves) in parametrically driven capillary waves. Rogue waves are observed above a certain threshold in forcing. Above this threshold, frequency spectra broaden and develop exponential tails.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Effect of adaptation duration to environmental conditions of the north on morphofunctional restructuring of capillary blood flow

open access: yesRussian Open Medical Journal, 2022
Background — We studied blood microcirculation and features of capillary morphology in young men with various duration of adaptation to the environmental conditions of Northeast Russia (Magadan Oblast).

Intein‐based modular chimeric antigen receptor platform for specific CD19/CD20 co‐targeting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CARtein is a modular CAR platform that uses split inteins to splice antigen‐recognition modules onto a universal signaling backbone, enabling precise, scarless assembly without re‐engineering signaling domains. Deployed here against CD19 and CD20 in B‐cell malignancies, the design supports flexible multi‐antigen targeting to boost T‐cell activation and

A study of nailfold capillaroscopy in different morphological variants of psoriasis in a tertiary care hospital

open access: yesJournal of Marine Medical Society
Background: Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease. Nailfold capillaroscopy (NFC) is a method to analyze nail changes in autoimmune disorders and is gaining popularity as a bedside tool for studying the capillaroscopic changes of psoriasis. Aim: The aim was
