Deaths Attributable to Carbapenem-ResistantEnterobacteriaceaeInfections
We evaluated the number of deaths attributable to carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae by using studies from around the world published before April 9, 2012. Attributable death was defined as the difference in all-cause deaths between patients with carbapenem-resistant infections and those with carbapenem-susceptible infections.

Metalloids: Semi as Metals yet Full of Antimicrobial Potential
Metalloids such as boron (B), silicon (Si), germanium (Ge), arsenic (As), antimony (Sb), and tellurium (Te) bridge metals and non‐metals, displaying unique chemical versatility. Recent research highlights their diverse antimicrobial and therapeutic potentials, from natural products to synthetic organic and organometallic molcules, underscoring renewed ...

New Delhi Metallo-β-Lactamase-5–Producing Escherichia coli in Companion Animals, United States
We report isolation of a New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-5–producing carbapenem-resistant Escherichia coli sequence type 167 from companion animals in the United States. Reports of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae in companion animals are rare.

In-vitro evaluation of different antimicrobial combinations with and without colistin against carbapenem-resistant acinetobacter baumannii [PDF]
Carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CR-Ab) infections are associated with high morbidity and mortality. The aim of the study was to evaluate the in-vitro activity of different antimicrobial combinations (with and without colistin, COL) against ...

Whole-Genome Sequence of a European Clone II and OXA-72-Producing Acinetobacter baumannii Strain from Serbia. [PDF]
We report here the draft genome sequence of a carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii strain isolated from a patient, a strain which previously stayed in Serbia. This isolate possessed the blaOXA-72 carbapenemase gene.

Fosfomycin Susceptibility in Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae from Germany [PDF]
ABSTRACT Due to the increase in multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae , the interest in older antimicrobial agents, like fosfomycin, has increased. In this study, we used agar dilution for testing susceptibilities to fosfomycin in a collection of 107 carbapenem-nonsusceptible ...

This retrospective study analyzed and compared antimicrobial resistance patterns of common bacterial pathogens before (October 2018–March 2020) and during (April 2020–December 2022) the COVID‐19 pandemic in Ghana's Northern Region. Amoxiclav (p = 0.027), ceftazidime (p = 0.002), ciprofloxacin (p = 0.001), gentamycin (p = 0.035), and meropenem (p < 0 ...
