Hospital wastewaters contain fecal material from a large number of individuals, of which many are undergoing antibiotic therapy. It is, thus, plausible that hospital wastewaters could provide opportunities to find novel carbapenemases and other ...

Global Incidence of Carbapenemase-Producing Escherichia coli ST131
We characterized Escherichia coli ST131 isolates among 116 carbapenemase-producing strains. Of isolates from 16 countries collected during 2008–2013, 35% belonged to ST131 and were associated with blaKPC, H30 lineage, and virotype C. This study documents

Background: Production of Bla OXA-23, OXA-24, OXA-58 and hyperexpression of OXA-51 due to ISAba1 insertion sequence are the leading causes of carbapenem resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii.

Detecting Carbapenemases in Animal and Food Samples by Droplet Digital PCR
Background: The presence of carbapenemase-producing bacteria (CPB) in animal hosts and along the food chain may result in the development of reservoirs for human infections.

This study explored the antibacterial, antivirulence, and in vivo effects of Algrizea minor essential oil (EOAM), against MRSA isolates. Chemical analysis by GC‐MS has been performed. The oil exhibited synergistic effects when combined with amoxicillin and oxacillin, inhibiting biofilm formation and reducing S. aureus‐induced hemolysis.
