Antarctic soil microbiomes encode structurally conserved and phylogenetically diverse beta‐lactamases

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
An integrative metagenomic framework combining sequence, structural, and functional inference reveals a phylogenetically diverse and structurally conserved repertoire of putative beta‐lactamases across Antarctic soil microbiomes, with predominance of class A and subclass B3 enzymes and limited but detectable associations with mobile genetic elements ...

Antimicrobial activity of doripenem against Gram-negative pathogens: results from INVITA-A-DORI Brazilian study

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
In vitro activity of doripenem and comparator antimicrobial agents was evaluated against Gram-negative bacilli recently isolated from Brazilian private hospitals that were enrolled in the INVITA-A-DORI Brazilian Study. A total of 805 unique Gram-negative

Detecting Antibiotic Resistance in Strains of Selected Gram‐Negative Bacterial Species Using Raman Spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Raman spectroscopy successfully identified antibiotic‐resistant Gram‐negative strains. Resistant strains of four bacterial species were discriminated from sensitive ones with 99.1% accuracy using PLS regression. The method allows for rapid, label‐free detection of antibiotic resistance.

Polymersome‐Enabled Multimodal Delivery of Tobramycin and Doripenem for Targeted Eradication of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Biofilms in Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Schematic representation of diffusion‐based versus pH‐triggered drug release within a bacterial biofilm. In diffusion‐based systems, drug cargo is gradually released independent of local pH, resulting in rapid burst release and reduced sustained concentrations.
