Palladium(II)-Catalyzed Asymmetric Tandem Cyclization of 2‑Aminoaryl Alkynones: An Approach to Chiral 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-β-carbolines

open access: yes, 2018
A Pd(OAc)2-catalyzed asymmetric cyclization of 2-aminoaryl alkynones involving an intramolecular trans-aminopalladation of alkyne and 1,2-addition to the carbonyl group tandem processes was developed.

A Versatile Linkage Strategy for Solid-Phase Synthesis of N,N-Dimethyltryptamines and β-Carbolines

open access: yes, 2016
Various tryptamines are captured by a vinylsulfonylmethyl polystyrene resin, generating a safety-catch linkage. β-Carbolines can be formed from 4 by a Pictet−Spengler reaction with the introduction of R1. Tryptamine 4 can also be derivatized by acylation

Acylation of indolyl subsituted β-ketonitriles. The way to new indolo[2,3-c]pyrilium and β-carboline derivatives

open access: yesЖурнал органічної та фармацевтичної хімії, 2020
Aim. To synthesize 4-cyanoindolo[2,3-c]pyrilium salts and examine their reactivity towards N-nucleophiles. Results and discussion. The acylation reaction of 2-(indolyl-3)-2-aroylacetonitriles under acid catalysis conditions was studied. 4-Cyanoindolo[2,3-

Phytochemicals in Asthma Management: Mechanism, Translational Gap and Clinical Integration

open access: yesPhytochemicals in Food and Medicine, Volume 1, Issue 2, June 2026.
The phytochemicals including flavonoids, alkaloids, terpenoids, and saponins modulate inflammatory, oxidative, and immune pathways in asthma. It highlights their mechanisms of action, translational challenges, advanced formulation strategies, and emerging clinical potential as adjunct therapies for precision‐based asthma management.

A New Synthetic Approach to the Preparation of Indolo[3,2‐c]quinolines From Sulfonylalkyl Indoles

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 10, 19 May 2026.
Functionalized indolo[3,2‐c]quinolines can be efficiently prepared from sulfonylalkyl indoles by a cascade process involving reduction, vinylogous aza‐Michael and aromatization reactions triggered by zinc powder in acetic acid at reflux. The reductive cyclization of sulfonylalkyl indoles obtained from 2‐(o‐nitroaryl)indoles, provides an efficient ...

β-Carbolines in Experiments on Laboratory Animals

open access: yes, 2020
Some studies have ascribed a protective effect against neurodegenerative diseases to the β-carbolines harman (H) and norharman (NH), which occur mostly in coffee and coffee substitutes.

Total Synthesis of rac‐Keramamine C Enabled by Intrinsic H‐Bond‐Induced Conformational Fixation of Amides

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 29, Issue 18, 14 May 2026.
The total synthesis of the manzamine alkaloid keramamine C (2) in its racemic form was achieved in 5 steps, with ring‐closing metathesis as the key step. The metathesis is strongly improved by an intramolecular H‐bond‐induced conformational fixation of the amide bond, inducing close proximity of the terminal double bonds in the precursor molecule.

An oxidative amidation and heterocyclization approach for the synthesis of β-carbolines and dihydroeudistomin Y

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
A novel synthetic methodology has been developed for the synthesis of dihydro-β-carboline derivatives employing oxidative amidation–Bischler–Napieralski reaction conditions using tryptamine and 2,2-dibromo-1-phenylethanone as key starting materials.
