Environmental conditions and male quality traits simultaneously explain variation of multiple colour signals in male lizards. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anim Ecol, 2022
Using the common lizard, Zootoca vivipara, this work shows that three different colour signals convey information on different aspects of male quality (performance, parasitism, body size), and at the same time covary with environmental factors such as forest cover, climate and ecogeography. Abstract Male lizards often display multiple pigment‐based and

Antioxidative and chaperone-like activities of a bacterioruberin-rich extract: An innovative approach to protect the skin proteome. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Cosmet Sci
The bacteriorubin‐rich extract of Arthrobacter agilis has high antioxidative properties, protecting proteins against oxidative stress and preventing their carbonylation. It also protects proteins against saline and heat stresses, suggesting a dual mode of action including antioxidant and chaperone‐like activities.

Nutritional composition, biologically active substances and antioxidant activity of young spelt grass extract

open access: yesJSFA reports, Volume 2, Issue 8, Page 385-397, August 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Triticum spelta L. (family Poaceae) is an ancient grain, which had been used for nutrition in the past but was eventually substituted, together with other related grains, for bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). The main reasons for its substitution are higher yield and economic gain in favor of bread wheat.

Enzymkatalysierte späte Modifizierungen: Besser spät als nie

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 133, Issue 31, Page 16962-16993, July 26, 2021., 2021

Aufbau eines Bioraffineriekonzeptes für Biertreber mit vorgelagertem Pressschritt Development of a Biorefinery Concept for Brewers' Spent Grain with a Preliminary Pressing Step

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, Volume 91, Issue 11, Page 1606-1614, November 2019., 2019

Archaeal Production of Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) Co‐ and Terpolyesters from Biodiesel Industry‐Derived By‐Products

open access: yesArchaea, Volume 2013, Issue 1, 2013., 2013
The archaeon Haloferax mediterranei was selected for production of PHA co‐ and terpolyesters using inexpensive crude glycerol phase (CGP) from biodiesel production as carbon source. CGP was assessed by comparison with the application of pure glycerol. Applying pure glycerol, a copolyester with a molar fraction of 3‐hydroxybutyrate (3HB) of 0.90 mol/mol

Human breast tissue cancer diagnosis by Raman spectroscopy

open access: yesJournal of Spectroscopy, Volume 22, Issue 2-3, Page 113-121, 2008., 2008
Differences between Raman spectra of normal, malignant and benign tissues have been recorded and analyzed as a method for the early detection of cancer. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the most statistically reliable research (67 patients) on Raman spectroscopy‐based diagnosis of breast cancers among the world women population.
