SummaryIn meiosis, cohesin is required for sister chromatid cohesion, as well as meiotic chromosome axis assembly and recombination. However, mechanisms underlying the multifunctional nature of cohesin remain elusive.

Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

PAWS1 controls Wnt signalling through association with casein kinase 1α
The BMP and Wnt signalling pathways determine axis specification during embryonic development. Our previous work has shown that PAWS1 (also known as FAM83G) interacts with SMAD1 and modulates BMP signalling.

Illustration of Wnt/β-catenin signaling.
(A) In the absence of an external WNT stimulus β-catenin (referred to by its official gene name CTNNB1 in the figure) is continuously degraded by a ‘destruction complex’ consisting of AXIN1, adenomatous polyposis coli (APC), casein kinase 1 (CK1) and ...

Human Embryonic Stem Cell-derived Cardiomyocytes with Ischemia Resistant Gap Junctions
Ischemic heart disease remains the number one killer worldwide, and no therapies are aimed at restoring lost muscle within patients’ hearts. Human pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes (hPSC-CMs) demonstrate engraftment and mediate beneficial ...

Changes in tau phosphorylation in hibernating rodents
Tau is a cytoskeletal protein present mainly in the neurons of vertebrates. By comparing the sequence of tau molecule among different vertebrates, it was found that the variability of the N-terminal sequence in tau protein is higher than that of the C ...

Schematic drawing of canonical Wnt signaling and GSK3β inhibitors.
(A) Inactive canonical Wnt signaling: β-CATENIN is recruited into a cytoplasmic complex with AXIN, CASEIN KINASE 1 (CK1), ADENOMATOUS POLIPOSIS COLI (APC) and GSK3β that phosphorilates β-CATENIN targeting it for proteasomal degradation.

Cytoplasmic RNF32 fuels CRC liver metastasis by degrading GSK3β, which stabilizes β‐catenin and activates Wnt/EMT. Moreover, RNF32 rewires the metastatic niche: it depletes CD8+/CD4+ T and NK cells while recruiting SPP1+ macrophages (which boost tumor stemness via CD44), fibroblasts, and immunosuppressive monocytes to aid colonization.
