Ossification of the cranium of Inpaichthys kerri (Characiformes: Acestrorhamphidae) with discussion of paedomorphic traits in the genus

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
In this study, we present a detailed description of the cranial development of Inpaichthys kerri (Characiformes: Acestrorhamphidae), highlighting important topics such as pedomorphic characters and their relationship with ontogeny and phylogeny, as well as ossification sequences unique to the species. Abstract The study of development provides valuable

Cannabinoid CB1 antagonists possess antiparkinsonian efficacy only in rats with very severe nigral lesion in experimental parkinsonism

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2005
We have observed that systemic administration of cannabinoid CB1 antagonists exerts antiparkinsonian effects in rats with very severe nigral lesion (>95% cell loss), but not in rats with less severe lesion (85–95% cell loss).

Postcranial anatomy of the Miocene hippopotamoids of Toros‐Menalla, Chad

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
We establish a framework for the identification of postcranial remains in hippopotamoids by describing and comparing for the first time two late Miocene hippopotamoids from Toros‐Menalla, Chad (Hexaprotodon garyam, an early hippopotamid, and Libycosaurus bahri, the last African anthracothere) with the common hippopotamus.

Successful Colonic Stenting Across the Ileocecal Valve With Severe Malignant Stenosis Using Ultra‐thin Scope and Single‐balloon Overtube

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Self‐expanding metallic stents (SEMSs) are an established palliative option for malignant colonic obstruction, including in cases with proximal lesions. However, SEMS placement across the ileocecal valve (ICV) can be technically challenging because of the anatomical curvature and luminal stenosis. Herein, we report a successful case of colonic

Cannabinoid type-1 receptors in CaMKII neurons drive impulsivity in pathological eating behavior

open access: yesMolecular Metabolism
Objectives: Overconsumption of palatable food and energy accumulation are evolutionary mechanisms of survival when food is scarce. These innate mechanisms becom detrimental in obesogenic environment promoting obesity and related comorbidities, including ...

The Endocannabinoid System Differentially Regulates Escape Behavior in Mice

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2017
Among the hardwired behaviors, fear or survival responses certainly belong to the most evolutionary conserved ones. However, higher animals possess the ability to adapt to certain environments (e.g., novel foraging grounds), and, therefore, those ...

A Novel Technique of Overtube‐assisted Ultrathin Endoscopic Biliary Drainage Using Multi‐Hole Self‐Expandable Metal Stents: A Case Report

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the standard procedure for biliary drainage; however, access can be challenging in patients with altered anatomy or tumor‐related distortion. Endoscopic ultrasound‐guided biliary drainage (EUS‐BD) is a common alternative, yet it is not always feasible, particularly in patients with prior

Development of a novel risk score reflecting the relative harm potential of synthetic cannabinoids based on prevalence estimates, well‐documented intoxication cases and basic pharmacological data

open access: yesAddiction, Volume 121, Issue 4, Page 870-882, April 2026.
Abstract Background and aims While the health hazards of synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (SCRAs) are often approximated using in vitro pharmacological parameters as surrogate, this approach fails to consider pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic complexity.

Cb1 Enhanced Osteogenic Differentiation Of Bmscs By Rescue Mitochondrial Metabolism

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Aim or purpose: CB1 is the main effector of endogenous cannabinoid system, and our previous study verified CB1 enhanced the osteo/dentinogenic differentiation of dental mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), which might be a target for alveolar bone regeneration.

Signal Amplification in the HPT Axis—Evidence for Its Existence, Location, Significance, and Molecular Mechanisms

open access: yesActa Physiologica, Volume 242, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Thyroid hormones (THs) are under negative feedback regulation via the hypothalamic–pituitary‐thyroid (HPT) axis. How this axis operates to keep the circulating THs within a narrow physiological range is not well understood quantitatively. Led by the design principle of robust homeostatic feedback control, here we review and synthesize the ...
